My pup (12 week old doberman) has not yet had any raw food, so I was wondering if this was ok. I bought a turkey neck and back, and was wondering if I can give him the whole thing, or only half, can I give the neck & back? have I jumped a few steps here, or is this ok?

go for it! i would have suggested soemthign meatier to give him more to rend and rip at but that should be just fine. stick to turkey only for a week or so before introducing any turkey organs. :)
congrats to you for going raw. our only complaint is we have a hard time finding treats that are cooler than his meals!! :)

I would keep an eye on him to make sure he is actually chewing and chomping and not gobbling (like many puppies are prone to do). If he is gobbling, take the carcas away and smash it up with a meat mallet. As he is a puppy you may also want to give him digestive enzymes to help him with this new food. If you are going to continue to feed kibble, bear in mind that dogs digest kibble at a far slower rate and it is best not to combine raw and commercial dog food in one meal. Our dog and cat food forum has lots of information and support for going raw, research, research, reasearch !! And we would love to see pix of your pup !
