My 3yr old lab Maddie has developed a lump on her right hip. She has had no injury to the area and does not seem to bother with it until it is touched. By her reaction it is tender and she does not lay on that side. It is about 1 1/2in in diameter and i have not noticed it before. Any suggestions what this may be?

Any lump should be examined by a veterinarian. Please read the following:
Good luck and please keep us posted. :fingerscr :goodvibes:

Agreed, two of my dogs have lumps and bumps (recurrent cysts and lipoma's) and they get them biopsied/ aspirated every check up. Well worth checking out particulalry since it's causing your dog discomfort and for your own peace of mind.

Charleigh, my dog also had a lump on his right hip. The vet said it was probably nothing to worry about but it turned out to be cancer.
I would have it removed & biopsied asap.
BTW my dog was OK after surgery to remove it.

Thx to you all for the advise. I have taken my girl to the vet and they are examining the lump as we speak.
Keep your fingers crossed for my girl!
