Well i am on here about my dogs...
My alaskan malamute female has been diagnosed with discoid lupus through biopsy...
The only treatment I am being offered (through 3 different vets) is prednisone.
anyone had success with other methods??

I don't have any personal experience with it but have just done some quick reading. I take it your dog's cases are too severe for Vitamin E or a combination of tetracycline and niacinamide and sun avoidance? I also came across this study http://www.jaaha.org/cgi/content/full/40/1/29 which recommends the topical use of 0.1% Tacrolimus and showed improvement in 8 of 10 dogs in the study. A net search turned up this ~ not sure you've seen it: http://www.naturalcanine.com/html/lupus.html

One of my previous huskies had discoid lupus but I was able to control it with topical Vitamin E and sun avoidance. I'm not a vet but I would try the homeopathic remedy or the Tacrolimus to see if you get results before resorting to the prednisone. Good luck and let us know if it works for you. :fingerscr :goodvibes:
