Lab Depression

2 year old lab that has good appetite, urinating and bowels fine but no energy, won't play, wont swim anymore, sleeps alot. Do dogs get depressed?

The Lab needs to be checked by your Vet to rule out physical illness. Mental illness like depression can be possible but, I would think to rule out physical first. It could be something as simple as hypothyroidism which makes you feel tired and disinterested. The lab could be anemic and need supplements. These are determined by a blood test. One could speculate forever. It is so not normal for your lab to lose interest like he has. Many times dogs continue to eat,drink, and have normal bowel and bladders, but still have some underlying illness---this needs to be determined by his Vet.
