That's a lot of money, but if I could afford it, or find a way to, I'd do what I could for my pets if they were ill.

I have spent a small fortune on my pets and would do it again! When my rabbit was diagnosed with a very severe illness, I drove him instantly to the nearest vet college - where there was a specialist.

I would spend as much as is necessary to help my pets with medical problems. I would not keep them alive if they are suffering horribly with no hope however but I apply the same principles of the care to the children and the ethics of it to my beloved pets! But I understand what the writer means and I have been there, done that and probably will do it again. Pets cope with vet care better than humans actually - especially in the area of disability, an area I know something about myself. They are excellent at learning or relearning how to cope - as your own kitty has shown you Rick.

Great article. I too would probably spend whatever was necessary although for me I would definately need to weigh any extreme treatments against the "quality of life" issue.
