Hi, I have a year and a half old female spayed Beagle. She was always a little tough to housetrain but at 8 months she finally came along...however she is constantly doing number 2 in the house. We feed her and let her out, I am out with her and watch her do it and then she comes in the house and within an hour she has done it again on the floor.
I took her to the vet and there are no problems, she is fed a good diet, lots of exercise, rarely left on her own, has a big backyard that is cleaned each and every time she goes so there isn't a mess out there. I just don't know what to do with her. I was hoping by a year and a half we would be able to let her roam the house and do some independant play but it's back to when she was little and we had to have her beside us the whole time. That doesn't even help, she has pooped right in front of me lots of times.
We tried screaming NO when we saw her doing it and taking her outside to her poo place, we cleaned it up only when she was away from our sight becuase they sometimes get a thrill watching us clean I was told by the vet, I used a special deoderizer to get rid of the smell, We tried smacking her bum once when we caught her hoping that maybe that was the thing that would stop the behaviour but no (I know you are not going to like that one but two vets have told me if its a last resort to try one smack on the hind quarters and if that doesn't work then don't try it again).
Please I have done all that I can do with good foods (which is a very high vet quality food that I put her on because I thought maybe she was having a problem with store brands), and vet visits...I NEED SOME TRAINING TIPS IF YOU HAVE THEM...I am desperate...I can't keep her if she is pooping on the floor and I will be having a baby crawling around them soon...
