I did not know where to put my grief so I'm posting here..Thanks in advance :grouphug:

On Tuesday July 3, a fellow SPCA dog walker Dan, passed away from a fatal motorcycle accident on his way to the SPCA. Dan was only 38 years old.

What can you say when stuff like this happpens? Nothing. There is nothing to say, there is only sadness. I had dog walked with Dan only a few times, and did not know him that well - but he was a sweetheart. You know when you meet some people and connect with them immediately - you just know that if you sat down with them and had a beer that you'd become great friends - that's the immediate feeling I got when I chatted with Dan. He and I immediately connected even though we were not yet connected through 'official' friendship.

Dan was a great dog walker too. He loved it. He loved the bigger dogs, the harder ones to walk, and he was good at it. He was dedicated to the dogwalking program. The dogs, his friends and family will surely miss him.

I'd like to take this moment to wish Dan's family our deepest, deepest condolences. No words can describe the devastation they must be feeling.

RIP Dan - I hope you have sweet dogs all around you now licking your face and cuddling you. :candle:

Sincerely,

Marko

His family and friends must be so lost. When a tragedy like this happens it seems so senseless.

So sorry Marko:sad:
Ever now and then we meet people, people we admire and love, without even really knowing them.
Dan sounds like just that kind of person and I am sure will be sorely missed.

Sounds like our world lost a great man but we will be gaining an extra angel to watch over and protect our four legged friends  .

I'm so sorry Marko, it is awful when such sad things happen to people in the prime of their lives  .

Marko - I am so sorry to hear about your friend. You have my deepest condolences.

You know, we were talking about this a while ago on another forum when a rescue worker was killed in a car accident transporting some fosters.

I honestly believe that your friend Dan was met at the bridge by all of those dogs with no families to look after. They will escort him to the Gates of Heaven.

Marko, Sorry to hear about Dan :rip:

The Navaho have a saying - The Spirit Lives As Long As Someone Who Lives Remembers You.

I think this can also be applied to pets as well as people - all the dogs he walked will surely remember him too.

Oh no Marko! That sounds horrible!!! Please accept my condolences to all his friends and family - sounds like he was a special guy!! I deal with death more than i care to and I'd like to say it gets easier but no, it doesn't!! Do the people at the SPCA have any grief counseling? Even talking informally among yourselves about the sudden loss of someone so vital and young (38 is young no matter how old we are!) might help you all with your feelings of frustration, sadness, anger at such an unforgivable loss!

Take care!! :grouphug:
