yup, we are roasting in the GTA. Pity our poor pets, they have to wear fur coats in this weather... been making sure kitty has water available at all times.

June 26th, 2007, 03:20 PM
Yeah,my cats were out all of about 10 min:laughing: then in to the airconditioned house.
Bailey(Cocker),who needs a haircut would not go for a walk, not that I blame her, instead we sat in a shady spot in the backyard, she had some treats and lots of cuddles, then she pooped on my grass:dog:

Rick, the summer is sooo darn short,I would not crawl in to the basement:laughing: the pool is really nice and cool and thank DOG we have central air:)

June 26th, 2007, 03:24 PM
WOW - could you send some of your heat this way - please.... it's 1:30 pm and it's only 17 right now! Everyone here is wondering when summer will really come!

Keep cool!

June 26th, 2007, 03:28 PM
Jan,we've had summer for a month now,we LOVE some rain,at least for a day,thunderstorms predicted for tomorrow:fingerscr

June 26th, 2007, 03:42 PM
It's about 110 degrees farenheit with the humidex Heidiho. <--- that's me, I'm not mad-hot-mad I'm  mad-hot-mad.

June 26th, 2007, 05:02 PM
Ack! Thanks to mumm for translating for us fahrenheit people....

That's scary hot for so early in the morning!!!

June 26th, 2007, 06:29 PM
Wow that is really hot,the humidity is what sucks.

June 26th, 2007, 08:19 PM
That is HOT - please send some of it down here!! :)

June 26th, 2007, 08:19 PM
This was the temp at 10;30 this morning,HOT,the second pic is the remedy and I mean the pool:laughing:

 ouch ! It's hot here too but got to 38*C in the afternoon, not at 10 am. I have a/c in my office :cloud9: and I get home and have the pool so I can't really complain. I only wish the doggies would go in their kiddy pool :frustrated: Paco was the only one to enjoy it. :dog:

June 26th, 2007, 08:50 PM
It's a deal, Chico - I'll send you some good, wet, BC rain and you send me some heat - just a bit though - don't want it too hot out here

Seriously though, that kind of heat is so hard on furballs and fuzzbutts! I don't take my dogs out in the afternoons when the heat does come - we go out in the early morning but thats it!

Keep cool...

June 26th, 2007, 09:11 PM
keep the heat a comin......feb at -25 for the high will be here sooner than you think:eek:

June 26th, 2007, 09:23 PM
Ugh, I hate the heat. I'm jealous of everyone who has swimming pools!!!! Sable and I are stuck in my tiny bedroom because it's the only place in the house with a/c. The animals at the shelter are melting...we have air conditioners there but they're really old and don't work well...and then the power went out! Luckily it came back on later, I thought the animals would roast! Before someone donated an air conditioner for the dog kennels, we would have to send volunteers out every few hours in the summer to buy big bags of ice, and we would dump the ice into the cages to try to cool them down a bit. It was awful.

June 26th, 2007, 09:29 PM
yea that would be guys don't even wanna go for walks......waiting for atleast 11pm ....throws the whole schedule off

June 26th, 2007, 09:33 PM
It was approx 35 degrees this afternoon in Sudbury as well ( with out the humidex).... Too damn hot to be walking around for 8 straight hours, my skin was literally feeling as though it was crisping off. There was no relief from it either.
There should be a cut off temp where outside workers have to stop, honestly I would rather not get paid than feel the way I do right now.

I feel so bad for my hens and rooster too, i came home from work and RUSHED to the coop, they were actually panting! Luckily they had fans on in the coop and PLENTY of water, but still for birds to be panting!!! ITs hot!

June 27th, 2007, 08:18 AM
Oh,Oh it's already +36C(9;15am),expecting severe thunderstorms this afternoon,then a little cooler tomorrow.:fingerscr
I am not complaining,I LOVE summer, with a pool, central air problem, but I pity the ones who don't have air and all the stray animals out there and the people who have to work outdoors.
We put ice in the birdbaths, even the birds are panting...

June 27th, 2007, 11:28 AM
We put ice in the birdbaths, even the birds are panting...

aww Chico2 ! That's too cute !

June 27th, 2007, 11:38 AM
Yeah its been like that for three days now....

My poor kitties are sitting at the doors panting their little butts off...there's no AC in the house and all we have are fans...they've been spending most of their time in the kitchen with the big overhead fan.

I'm surprised they haven't taken up residence on top of the litter boxes yet....

June 27th, 2007, 11:42 AM
Frenchy,well,I am sooooo cute:laughing:
The cats were outside for about 15min,I just carried Vinnie inside,he was just laying there.
It often seems he would like to join us in the pool, but I am not going to try to find out:laughing:
Bailey though, might come in with me today:dog:

June 27th, 2007, 11:44 AM

June 27th, 2007, 02:32 PM
I was supposed to do bike patrol tonight, just north of Barrie, but the &$%& Tribute started acting up on the way to work, and I'm afraid to drive up. (I soooo miss the RED RANGER). But, on the plus side, I won't have to be in the heat OR the thunderstorm. Last year I was patrolling during the "big one" that hit, and we're sure there was a tornado, and we had whole trees crashing on the trails. It got so dark in the woods at one point, and so fast, I couldn't get my sunglassess off to see before I bounced off a tree.

In the weather like this, I fill my camelback (basically a backpack with a giant water bottle) with ice and water, and it's already warm after an hour of riding.

Grace insists on playing in her kiddie pool, and having Daisy get in, so I've trained Daisy to jump in on command. We are under a watering restriction here, so that's how I water my lawn. Every night she goes in her pool, we put it over the driest spot so that when we drain it, that part gets watered.

June 27th, 2007, 02:47 PM
I also put icecubes in flat bowls around the yard for the birds, groundhogs and squirrels, it lasts most of the afternoon, I toss icecubes in the birdbaths also, keeps the water from all drying up in this humidity, the baby groundhogs flip them around like hot potatoes *L*

June 27th, 2007, 05:53 PM
wow! You guys are having higher temps than me here in North Carolina, USA. When it gets to 90's F (32 C) I just about die. We do have higher humidity, I am sure which makes it feel much hotter.

I hate summer........

June 27th, 2007, 08:02 PM
Where is the "I am melting" smilie? :) One of my thermometers registered 101 Fahrenheit today. It's just lovely being out in the heat scrubbing poop out of dog kennels. Smells real nice in the summer. And the flies swarming are just wonderful. Took me forever too, I had to take a break every 15 minutes. Yuck. I think a vacation to Alaska would be nice...

June 27th, 2007, 08:08 PM
I don't know about Fahrenheit but it went up to 39*C today, right now it's 9:00 pm and it's 30*C in my house,I went for a swim so I'm ok but some of the fuzzbutts are panting a lot , and have to do this right beside me . :yell:

June 27th, 2007, 08:21 PM
any toronto people should listen to 1010cfrb on friday.....3-6pm.....barking contest..........treats for cats and dogs from pedigree for a year.......donate them to the local shelter....cause most here will never feed them....but a cheap treat is better than none.

June 27th, 2007, 08:25 PM
.but a cheap treat is better than none.

Right on Wdawson :thumbs up

June 27th, 2007, 08:27 PM
I don't know about Fahrenheit but it went up to 39*C today
I use this ( fahrenheit/celsius converter. (I learned all the formulas in school, but I've forgotten them.)

39 C is about 102 F. Hot!!!!!!!!

June 27th, 2007, 08:32 PM
So it's about the same weather at your place SableCollie , we have a thunderstorm warning in effect since this afternoon but nothing is going on yet. I hope it's in the middle of the night, I love to hear the rain , even thunder at night. But Bailey won't like this one bit.

June 28th, 2007, 06:56 AM
NO RAIN as was promised:evil: But it is cooler,+20C at 8am...come on rain:fingerscr

June 28th, 2007, 07:35 AM
we had one heck of a thunder storm last night, suppose to bring in a cold front *L* yep, 24c/78f, thats a cold front? *L* no matter, I'll take it.

June 28th, 2007, 12:24 PM
It was supposed to be thunderstorms here too, but nothing yet. The weatherman said it would cool down this weekend. I hope he is right for once!! :fingerscr

June 28th, 2007, 12:27 PM
NO RAIN as was promised:evil: But it is cooler,+20C at 8am...come on rain:fingerscr

What you need to do... is spend way too much money having a state-of-the-art sprinkler and drip-irrigation system installed in your yard to combat months of drought. You see... that's what we did... And it has RAINED EVERY DAY since we had it installed. :yell:

And that... is how one makes it rain....

June 28th, 2007, 02:32 PM
Pags:laughing:  I told hubby to leave the seat-cushions out,then it's bound to rain:laughing:
It was another hot day +32C,not as humid, but still really hot.
My pool is 80F almost too warm,I prefer 75F..
