My question is; Can a female dog get pregnant without being in heat?

Probably could, but the best thing to do is to get her spayed so that there is no chance of her getting pregnant ever;)

A dog can't get pregnant in the absence of a heat cycle, but some cycle so unobtrusively that you might miss the signs.

If you are in doubt about your girl at all, she should be seen by a vet. If her behavior is different or she's undergoing unexplained weight gain, and she's not pregnant, there may be something seriously wrong with her. And if she is pregnant, she should be examined by a vet, anyway.

Please consider spaying her--as HO says, that would permanently remove the worry that she might be pregnant. :thumbs up

NO!

However it is possible she had a silent heat and got pregnant from that.
