I just recently adopted a senior dog (poodle) 12 yrs old. Her owner died and the family took the dog to the spca in san francisco to have her put down, a rescue group called me to see if I wanted her because I had adopted a 12 yr old poodle from them 7 yrs ago who passed on 02/03/07. I said I would take her. She has issues that I don't know how to deal with, she cries and barks whenever she is left alone. Can anyone give me some tips on how to stop this since she will be left alone on occasion because I do work.

Does she like toys? Maybe a stuffed kong would help her out? :o

Thanks for taking her in. :grouphug:

Is there a doggy daycare facility somewhere near you? Maybe once or twice a week she could go there for some distraction. And the next day, maybe she'd be tired and sleep all day :thumbs up :D

I wonder if some of this wouldn't be from feeling insecure with all the recent upheaval she's had. Maybe a trainer would be able to help you.

I think it's wonderful that you've taken her in !!:grouphug:
