May 3rd, 2007, 05:31 PM

jesse's mommy

Yep, I like the pets and flowers thing :thumbs up .

May 3rd, 2007, 10:10 PM
As the weather if often pretty "iffy" in about a Flora and Fauna Challenge?
This could include the simple beauty of pets and flowers or plants (for indoor only cats) to outdoor greenery in all weather - the rainforest look to fun in the sun.:)

May 3rd, 2007, 10:13 PM
Excellent idea Shamrock :thumbs up .

May 3rd, 2007, 10:15 PM
I could so do the rain challenge, it's been raining for 2 days straight and my house smells like wet dogs and I have to keep mopping my floor. I love my kids :D

May 4th, 2007, 06:49 PM
I like the Flora and Fauna idea too. :highfive:

May 4th, 2007, 07:43 PM
If it wasn't so dry this spring, I'd suggest Pets in Mud :o. Now I'd have to suggest Pets Putting out Forest Fires .

The Flora and Fauna idea is just so much more appealing! :highfive: Except my Flora won't be up till June... (Our last frost date is May 31.) Unless pictures from last year count? :fingerscr

May 4th, 2007, 08:36 PM
So is somebody doing it or what?

May 4th, 2007, 08:45 PM
I was thinking the same thing, something tropical for sure, april showers bring may flowers you know.

May 4th, 2007, 08:56 PM
But I don't have any flowers here , oh yes , there was some when I moved in but I destroyed them all   Maybe just nature pics ?

May 8th, 2007, 03:31 PM
ok I understand what flora is (flowers) but what is fauna  please someone explain're not the only one confused :D
As the early member suggestions for a May theme mentioned mostly flowers and plants,
I believed this covered it nicely - floral, greenery, nature.
Thought Fauna was a term for trees, plants, grasses, mosses, etc.:o  :o .

Looking at some of these great pics.... I began to realize I didnt "quite" have this

From Wikipedia:

Fauna is a collective term for animal life of any particular region or time. The corresponding term for plants is flora

Zoologists and paleontologists usually use fauna to refer to a typical collection of animals found in a specific time or place, e.g. the "Sonoran Desert fauna" or the "Burgess shale fauna".

Paleontologists sometimes refer to a sequence of 80 or so faunal stages, which are a series of rocks all containing similar fossils.

So, I feel pretty foolish...but learned something.:)

This is still a good theme, and the pics are wonderful!
Do you feel it should be "widened' in scope? Flora, Fauna and Nature?

May 8th, 2007, 03:42 PM
I really want to compliment everyone on their photos too.:cloud9: :lovestruck:
Beautifully done.. from the lovely scenic shots to the sweet and funny captures, your cats and dogs all look awesome!:thumbs up

May 8th, 2007, 03:53 PM

As the only female, and with a retiring quiet personality, I have to guard her peace and quiet sometimes from the rowdy male cats.. especially the really rambunctious Zack. He's way too much for her.

Great pics Shamrock! I love the last one of Percy (he's so little!) and all the Miranda shots. :cloud9: :cloud9:
