May challenge - Flora and fauna

I'm starting to dig these challenges....anyone have a topic? It's May 3rd and I'm gettin the shakes. :p

Since it's getting warm everywhere, how about a tropical challenge? I just bought Jesse a hula skirt. :laughing:

As the weather if often pretty "iffy" in May...how about a Flora and Fauna Challenge?
This could include the simple beauty of pets and flowers or plants (for indoor only cats) to outdoor greenery in all weather - the rainforest look to fun in the sun.:)

I have lots of garden/pet pics,but none you have not already seen,Tulips are in full bloom,but they are in the frontyard,no cats allowed in the front...

Ok, so here's my "challenge shot" of Pablo and Leila.. So there are inside doggies outside in fauna and flora, so I figured I'd post doggies who lived outside with real fauna and flora for who knows how long inside with fake fauna. :D Does that make any sense?

As the early member suggestions for a May theme mentioned mostly flowers and plants,
I believed this covered it nicely - floral,greenery, nature.
Thought Fauna was a term for trees, plants, grasses, mosses, etc.:o :laughing: :o .

Looking at some of these great pics.... I began to realize I didnt "quite" have this right......lol...

From Wikipedia:

Fauna is a collective term for animal life of any particular region or time. The corresponding term for plants is flora

Zoologists and paleontologists usually use fauna to refer to a typical collection of animals found in a specific time or place, e.g. the "Sonoran Desert fauna" or the "Burgess shale fauna".

Paleontologists sometimes refer to a sequence of 80 or so faunal stages, which are a series of rocks all containing similar fossils.

So, I feel pretty foolish...but learned something.:)

This is still a good theme, and the pics are wonderful!
