Doggie Paws

My 7 yr old chocolate lab has terribly chapped / cracked pads. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to soften them up? If I put anything on them he will likely just lick it off?

I have Sadie's Choice paw protector.when i was on their website.it said can also be used as a conditioner.i got it from petsmart.but the mister licks at it.

I think there are several paw protector creams on the market. I think it's safe to use Vaseline also, which would be alot cheaper, but I would check with your vet first.
