"Oxford County : Suspicious Barn Fire
Posted by Newsroom on 2007/4/25 11:39:28 (235 reads)

One horse was killed after a what is being described as a massive blaze at Quin K Stables in Woodstock. Oxford Community Police say the fire is suspicious. The fire broke out 11pm Sunday night. Most of the horses were outside when the fire happened. A neighbour tells the Woodstock Sentinal he heard an explosion, louder than a gun shot, he then saw flames shooting out from the barn."

Users on another BB who have spoken to the owner said that Max, the poor horse who perished, was actually doused with gasoline by the arsonist.

I cannot comprehend this. It's so tragic.

Here's a link to a video slideshow tribute for Max. I bawled my eyes out watching it.

That is HORRIBLE. That poor horse and OMG that family is probably devistated. I hope that person is caught and gets a harsh punishment, although unfortunately he/she may only get a slap on the wrist,if in fact the are caught. I don't get it. :rip: Max, and many prayers and hugs sent his familys way

PLease see these links and if you have any info about this arson PLEASE call crimestoppers. PLEASE. We don't want this to happen to anyone else so catching the arsonist/s is vital to our (and your) piece of mind. If you are in this area keep close watch on you barn.

This is Max's site made by my teen daughter.

There is also a thread on equiman if you are interested.

and a video with music done by one of the teens from the same barn which has already been posted by someon here.

A lot of people knew our horse as he taught hundred of kids and adults to ride when he used to be a school horse. He's the best friend we ever had and he desired a better retirement than dying in a intentionallly set fire.
We are heartbroken. There's lots more pictures on Max's site now too. Thank you all for caring.

Am I allowed to post these links I hope I'm not breaking any rules. I just kinda tripped over this site when looking for a news acticle about Max on Google.

Our other horse is distraught having witnessed the event standing outside the barn he could see Max's window.

And yes all the boarders lost all there belongings but the only loss of life was Max. The 2 barn cats are fine the dog and all other horses

I am so very, very sorry for Max, you and your family. Perhaps you should report it to as well. This was deliberate animal cruelty.

The person/s will be charged with animal abuse when they are found .The Ontario Humane Society and Police have both agreed to lay animal abuse charges, working in cooperation.

However I was told the if there was a plea bargain the animal cruelty charges are likely to be dropped.

Even if this evil person does not get charge with killing Max in the most terrible way, which unfortunately is the norm here in Ontario,he still burned down your barn, which is arson, but even that will probably not give him jail-time:evil:
This story is a horror-story,poor beautiful Max,poor you for having to live with the knowledge of how Max died:sad:

Maxwell's Mom, I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful horse, my deepest condolences to you and your family.:grouphug:

This truly defy comprehension, and I hope and pray whoever committed this unpeakable act will be found. I'm a firm believer in Karma. There will be some retribution, some accountability, somehow, some time.

The video clips and website were so deeply touching - wonderful tributes to such a clearly beloved and beautiful horse. Heartwarming and heartwrenching... unbelievably sad.

:rip: Max. With eternal sun on your back and wind in your mane, hooves fly freely in open flight at the Bridge.:candle:

Maxwells Mom, I'm so sorry for your loss  Schooling horses are wonderful animals (well, all horses are... but with 2 girls who ride I have a special fondness for schooling horses) and it is so sad and so wrong that Maxwell was murdered in such a way. :(

I too hope the perps will be caught and brought to justice ASAP.

No problem with you posting it on the site . I appreciatte it and encourage everyone to pass it on. If this person is to be caught, the more people who know the better. Thanks again.

I have posted a link to your daughters website on both of my websites.

The more who know the more chance of catching this SOB!

My deepest heartfelt sympathies for the tragic needless loss of such a majestic beautiful horse.

I have a very soft spot for horses in my heart as I use to show. My retired show horse is still at my parents farm.

It is divesting.

May Max rest in peace knowing that he is loved and missed!
