I have a 7 month old Yorkie/Westie mix. She's had her tail turned down between her legs since yesterday. Is this a sign of her being in heat? The vet said it could happen, but I haven't noticed any other signs. She has an appointment to be spayed next week.

Not usually a sign of heat. If she goes into heat, you will see blood spotting, you may see little spots of blood on the floor or her bed, like she has her period. Also the vulva will look swollen. You could always bring her in for your vet to check, because some vets will not spay a dog who is in heat.

Thanks, would there be a reason for the tail to be turned down like that? She seems fine.

Is the tail between her legs all the time? Is she able to move it? As long as there is nothing physically wrong with the tail, holding it between her legs indicates stress or nervousness.
