Weaning onto a new dog food

I will be weaning Sprocket onto Solid Gold Wolf Cub shortly and wanted to find out the best way to do this. I've looked in previous posts, but couldn't find anything on weaning.

When we decide to wean him, do we do it over 5 or 10 days and what food increments do we use, do we go by quater cups or does it matter?

I've always done it over a week to ten days and 1/4 cup increments. :)
