My cat recently started to hiss and lunge towards me. I've tried to play with her, but she growls and hisses at me without provacation. She will come close to me, but if I attempt to touch her, she gets aggressive. A family with a young boy moved in recently, down the hall from my apartment, and the boy runs up and down the hall all day long. Could this be the reason my cat is acting up to me? I will be forced to "put her down", if this aggessivness doesn't stop soon. Any suggestions?

Any sudden changes in behavior should be checked out by a vet, and have medical issues ruled out.

Yes. You need to make an appointment with a therapist to control yourself.
Cats don't act aggressive to make you, sir king upset. It probably IS related to the new kid on the block.
Almost all behavioral problems can be cured without murdering your cat. Read the pet tip on this site called Cat bites while petting.
This is the WRONG board to threaten to put your cat down (read kill your cat).

CCopland...That your cat all of a sudden hisses and does not want to be touched is to me a clear sign that she is sick or in pain.
Also cats react to children if they are not used to them, but this child is not in your place right?
I am bothered by how easily you decide you will have her killed if she does not stop:mad:
Take her to the vet to be examined, there more than likely is a medical problem, she should not have to lose her life...:(

Oh man, this is a crazy emotional day!! Take your cat to the vet!! End of discussion!!! I'm still teary from hearing about Heidi, and this just adds to it!! I lost a cat about 6 years ago after costing me thousands of dollars, but he was my boy, I couldn't just put him down because he was sick!! I was doing everything I could for him, until the day he died! Pleaseeeeeeeee take your cat to the vet!!!

I di speak to a neighbour that went through the same thing, after I posted the above, and she gave me a herbal remedy to help ease my cat's stress. Her cat is going through the same thing,(we both live on the same floor). I will take her to the vet, just to rule out any medical problems. Also, my cat is 7 years old, and I've had her since she was a 3 week old kitten. So, of course, death is the last option I would seek. Thankyou for the advice however, it is appreciated.

Hi everybody, just want to update you all on my baby (cat). It turns out, the reason she was so aggressive, is because she was constipated! The vet gave her some medication to help "move things along" and she was feeling much better when I got home today. In fact, she was so happy to see me, we played for a good hour, a record for her. I'm so glad I didn't have to make the decision to put her down, I'd miss her so bad. I cried all weekend and now they are tears of joy. As the song goes, "M BABY'S BACK AND THERE'S GONNA BE TROUBLE..... HEY YA HEY YA, MY BABY'S BACK! LOL! Thanks for the help and advice, it is greatly appreciated. :D

Ccopland,Good for the kitty, she must have been very uncomfortable, check the litter-box every day to make sure she poops at least once a day.

I will certainly be checking every day. She poop, I scoop. And a little "help" a couple of times a week with some sea food flavoured "lubricant" to help get rid of hairballs. The vet suggested it. I'll keep you all "posted", so to speak. Thanks again. By the way, my name is Cam.
