hair loss

My cat has started to pull her hair out with her mouth. Her front arms are now bare and I catch her trying to pull it out in other areas as she cleans herself. The vet recommended an expensive food to help with dry, itchy skin, but it isn't helping. It's so sad to see her doing this to herself, not to mention all the fur chunks left around the house. Please help!

Hi,

there are products available in pet stores that have a lousy taste to cats.

Maybe buy that product and put it where your cat is licking.

But you should ALSO find out what is causing this behaviour.

Is your house too dry? Might the cat have some fleas or a tic?

Well, our vet said the problem isn't on the skin. I might have to try getting the lousy tasting stuff for her bare spots. She's such an affectionate cat, maybe she gets lonely. We're thinking of getting her a buddy. Thanks for your reply.
P.S. I'll try running the humidifier more too, thanks.
