Friends til the End - Burton

Today will mark a week that we had to say goodbye...

That morning you looked at me and told me that you had had enough. I could see the pain in your eyes, the hurt it gave is still here. We miss you terribly our little boy. We know that we did everything that we could - we provided you with the best of life, but it was you that provided us with such joy, unconditional love, endless laughs and smiles - we were the lucky ones. You blessed us with your grace and presence.

The time has flown by since you came into our lives - our days now go slow. I look for you in places I remember - only to not see you there. I call your name - only to hear silence. You are part of our everyday. We miss you so much. Our home has become quiet and empty - our heart aches for you Burton.

Walks will never be the same not seeing you bounce and leap along. Swimming will not be the same not hearing you splash and play. Who will help me plant the gardens and sniff the flowers? Long drives will be endless not seeing you in the back seat, head out window, wind blowing through your ageless face. These will form our many wonderful memories.

We know that you are in a new place - take care and wait for us there. Watch over us, remember us. We will never forget you our little angel. Know that we loved you unconditionally and we know that you depended on us and never judged us - our best friend.

March 13, 2007 will live on as our longest and saddest day - we look forward to meeting you again. As I told you as I watched your gaze saying goodbye and your spirit leaving this world - friends til the end, friends til the end, friends til the end...

Peace, pride and love always our Burton.

Rob & Allan

I know what a heartbreak it is to lose a pet; they truly are our best friends. Burton was a handsome boy. Those wonderful memories you have of Burton will help to heal the pain and heartache that you are feeling now. My thoughts are with you.

 So sorry for the pain you are now feeling, but one day you will be able to smile when you think of all the wonderful times you had with your Burton. The hurt will lessen as times go by.....

That was truely truely beautiful, Burton was so lucky to have you and as you said you were so very lucky to have him. Your sadness will ease and like me you will remember your loved one, not with so much pain, but with wonderful memories, I know that is difficult to comprehend just now, but it will happen.

My Maxie went to the bridge March 16th 2006 and he is thought about everyday, the pain has eased, but I have never stopped missing him.

My thoughts are with you. :rip: Burton:grouphug:

I know that look, when they have had enough:candle:

You will meet Burton again, as we all will meet our loved fur-babies and human familys.

He was a truely magnificent looking dog.

Our thoughts in NZ are with you at this sad time.

The vet called yesterday to say that Burton's ashes were ready. In one sense I wanted to rush to the vet, pick them up and bring him home - on the other sense I was an emotional wreck in knowing that I would rather bring him home as Burton than his ashes and realizing that this was the final step in recognizing that he's indeed gone. I couldn't muster the strength to do it yesterday. I'll try for this afternoon or Saturday morning.

Your memories will keep him alive in this world, marshsparrow, and Burton  is waiting for you in the next. :candle:

We too have the cremains of all our dogs that have passed. Our wills state explicitly that all of our ashes are to be mingled. Right now, the ashes of our dogs are just a small physical link that keeps us grounded in our memories. And we know that eventually we'll all be running free together. :grouphug: We never doubt that.

Hazelrunpack I love that suggestion - it makes total sense - we'll amend our wills to do something similar.

This morning the sun was shining and the air crisp and you could smell spring in the air - one of Burton's favourite times - all the new smells after the snow is gone. I brought Burton home today - the vet has been extremely supportive, the urn beautiful and I feel comfort knowing that his remains are close by.

Thx again for all the posts of encouragement and for the prayers.

Today, is the first day, without our little guy Bam Bam. Just a few hours ago, I had to carry our little boy's remains to our vet. Finding this site, and reading tributes, such as yours, really is helping me through a VERY difficult day. I hope the days are getting a little easier for you. God Bless!:sorry: :candle:

Today, April 27 would have been Burton's 10th birthday. I still can't get over the amount of pain and loss - everyday my heartaches - I think of Burton always, remember great times - smile, laugh and cry...

Happy Birthday Burton - we miss you!
