Hi, I have made a few posts on this board and there are some great people out there like LuckyResuce, Chaney, Luba and wAggie who are so great and quick with their replies that I just wanted to say a big thanks.
Also I know a lot of you reccomend shelters so I wanted to pass along the website of a place here in St. John's, Newfoundland Canada where I adopted my little beagle. it's www.beaglepaws.com They don't have a shelter it's basically a small operation that rescues beagles (which can be treated really bad as hunting dogs here in newfoundland) and keeps them in foster homes until a forever home can be found. They will accomodate adoptions all over canada and have gone as far as BC which is completely across canada as far as you can go from Newfoundland. It's a shame so many beagles end up in shelters they are such wonderful dogs.

But people get them as cute little puppies and forget they're hunting dogs and well when they dig or run off or pull on lead or howl to go out.... they dump them!

How true. Or people seem them in movies (huskies, JRTs) or think the puppies are adorable (Bassets) and rush out to get one, never thinking that this breed may not match their lifestyle or may not be for anyone but a knowledgeable and dedicated (or VERY active) owner.

Then the puppy doesn't act like the dog in the movie - and those dogs have expert training AND a job - off they go to the shelter.

A lot fo breeds are so misrepresented in the movies and press.

They look so cute and cuddly but in truth they are mini terrorists. I believe in researching before you do something.
