It was 15 celcius in Calgary yesterday after weeks of accumulating snow . . . .
Abby is poised to pounce as she listens for mice under the melting snow . . . .
Running through the melt water . . . . already coming over top our road from the pond.
Abby on the open Elbow River near Allen Bill Pond in Kananaskis Country
From earlier, a field of elk ears in the early morning glare . . . .
Lost in the sun dappled forest with Keeper . . . .
And, just for laughs, getting rich slowly on the 1 cent slots at Paris in Las Vegas on the weekend . . . under a phony sky.

Beautiful pictures, Rick C - and what awesome country you live in!

Never a disappointment here.
Great subjects (Abby and Keeper). Scenery surrounding them is magnificent, and a bit of Vegas added to the mix, what more could I ask for.

I think its pretty funny that the blue dragon in Breeze's avatar looks like the same one on the one cent slot machine.
That probably signifies nothing but amusing nonetheless.
What would you tell the King if you had a chance to argue with him?
What's better than Elvis? How about two Elvis times deux.

Your Goldens are breathtaking Rick C. and your story telling pictures are a pure enjoyment.
Woohoo...Elvis the pelvis, in Las Vegas one of my all time favorite entertainers, The King of Rock and Roll.

A few more at random . . . .
From yesterday, a newborn calf and its mother near Longview, Alberta.
A deceptively hot day has Abby chilling out during a break . . . . we were hugging the shoreline as the ice melts away.
From a few weeks ago, before the melt:
And a different view of the same scene . . . . Abby in the same spot, looking the other way, with Keeper in the background:

A couple more . . . . after The Big Melt we had The Huge Snowfall a few nights ago . . . .
Last night at sunset, this herd of elk were chased off the far hill by a rancher on a snowmobile . . . . ranchers don't like them eating hay bales but I've never seen the snowmobile chase before. Probably illegal. I'll look into it today. Little fuzzy, but here they are on the run!!:
Keeper barking at sunset, as she does every night, chasing away villians in the valley:

I love that last pic of Keeper with her head up in the air like that:cloud9:

Once again breathtaking pictures shared with us Rick C. you really know how to capture the moment, Thank You.
March 14th, 2007, 03:15 PM
Too bad about the elk chase. We're fortunate that nobody around us does that so we just get to enjoy their majestic beauty. :cloud9: I know they do it further up the valley from us though but it's the only way they can protect their farmland. :frustrated:
I love the photo of Keeper. :lovestruck:

A few things from earlier today, well before the wonderful nap on the deck under warm cloud cover . . .
Canus Latrans, wild canine, the common coyote . . . . .
Swimming earlier in the day . . . .
From a few days ago,
Abby tends her paws at sunset after a fresh dusting of snow . . . .
The snow hasn't stopped two-footed Polly . . . . she caught a mouse the other day.
March 17th, 2007, 09:21 PM
