meb999 March 3rd, 2007, 07:07 PM I know Technodoll had started a thread like this awhile ago....but I can't find it (ok, ok, I'm too lazy to look!!)
So who's YOUR dream petfinder (or rescue) pet? Consider that there aren't ANY restrictions (even if the ept is far away, or you don't have room, or your husband or wife wouldn't let you, etc....) Dream away!
I'm so in love with this girl.....

Byrd March 3rd, 2007, 07:23 PM Given that I now know a tonne more about dog training I'd be willing to give another Husky a try. This guy is super cute, as typical for Husky pups the owner didn't try hard enough and just gave him up.

OMG Reading Litsa's story almost made me cry... She and her two sisters were thrown over the shelter fence, here sisters have been adopted now. Litsa is very shy, but friendly. Damn how much I wish I could have another dog right now, I would love to give this girl the love she deserves.

He's a local guy and is not on petfinder and im not sure if I can post the link to the rescues site:shrug:
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h154/erykah1310/treagle.jpg
He is a treeing walker coonhound, and has been in this rescue since he was a pup. I met him once reading meters, hes a great guy and having it a bit rough at his foster home ( they are great but the neighbours are &%%@*$%!) Good with other dogs and loves people.
Sorry about the picture quality. Its the only one on the site of him.
Heres a bit of info on the breed.

sissani March 3rd, 2007, 09:23 PM Smokey and Fluffy. My work has boarded Fluffy for a year now, and Smokey for almost as long. We all adore these two kids and if I had a house, I would take them both home with me in an instant (and bring them back to work everyday as I do my two current dogs).

Mocha's mum March 3rd, 2007, 09:50 PM I feel so bad for these animals...
It's a matter of space for me. I'm currently in a 884 square foot condo, so it's just big enough for my Lhasa and Kris and I. We're planning on buying a house with a yard in the next few months. I want at least two more dogs....Kris wants boxers, and I told him he could have whatever he wanted, as long as they were rescues; either from the local SPCA or the Boxer Rescue Site. Lucky for me, he agreed :D
If I had my way, I'd adopt a hundred dogs...

Lukka'sma March 4th, 2007, 09:43 AM This is my dream dog. A Caucasian Ovcharka that lives in a zoo in Romania. Such terrible conditions and treatment for this animal. Most likely another case of someone who did not do their homework and purchased a breed that they were not able to handle

jessi76 March 4th, 2007, 04:06 PM For me, it'd be Miss Daisy
http://www.basenjirescue.org/DOGS-MIXES/PA/PA-Daisy.asp
Small excerpt from her writeup...
Daisy's family has moved in with the grandparents who already have two old dogs. Daisy tried to play with them but they do not like her. So now she spends her days either crated or tied outside. She gets bored and digs holes while outside to entertain herself. It soon will be cold outside and Daisy loves the warm house and doesn't like being tied outside. Daisy's family wants to find her a home with a secure fenced in yard where she can be free to run and play.
It breaks my heart. Mainly because I think she'd be a great addition, but we can't manage an addition at this time.

THat is sad, it is amazing how many feel super fearful dogs should be put down.
Dogs like Maya were routinely put down with the belief they were unadoptable and that they could not relax enjoy life and adapt to home life. A bit of hard work, lots and lots of patience, the right companions and she proved otherwise, I send pictures back to the track Maya came from to prove that these dogs can adapt and enjoy life
