I was hoping someone can help find the perfect dog for me. I prefer a little guy because I live in an apartment and I have two cats who are easily spooked. Also, we live in a peaceful building and I am pretty sure folks wanna keep it that way :)

A small quiet breed LOL I don't think there is one HAHAHAHA!
Seriously most smaller breeds can actually have some loud barks.
What is your lifestyle like? How long would the dog be left alone while you're at work or out? If your cats easily get spooked it may not be fair to them to get a dog, it could make them anxious and depressed. Have you thought about that?

Luba is right - many smaller dogs need more exercise and are more active and barky than a larger dog.
As for the cats, I would suggest you get a dog from a rescue. They are usually in foster homes, many of which have cats and other pets.
This way you could be sure of getting a dog that will not bother your cats at all, and you would also know if the dog is barky when left alone.

WOW...I never thought that getting a dog would actually affect my cats that much. I figured it was just a matter of getting used to each other. Pumba came from a farm (he was in a tiny cage with a dozen other kitties and a dog) and Sasha came from a pet store.
As for my livestyle, I gone 9-5 mon-fri but I already walk my mom's German Shepard daily and always find time to spoil and love my pets.

It could very well be a matter of them just getting used to each other if you get a dog who is good with cats. Most cats, once they realize the dog will not chase or harm them in any way, are usually fine.
But you will still have to supervise them in the beginning and do proper introductions with all of them.

My best advice would be to go to your local shelter and see what is available. Chase, my heart dog, was adopted from the local shelter. She is a most wonderful girl, great with anything I bring through the door.

A mixed breed might be best, mixed with something small, of course. If there is a rescue group around you, or a shelter, you might want to have a look. If your heart tells you that one of the dogs is the right one, look into adopting him/her.:)
