Post-Op Food

We had Barkley neutered yesterday and I was wondering if I should avoid the more richer meats like beef while he is recovering? Should I just stick to chicken for a while or does it not matter? This morning he had his first poop since the surgery and it was definitely loose but I imagine that must be fairly common after surgery?

I just fed normally. The only thing i did was not feed in his crate until he healed up, but really I think that was overkill.

Rosco was neutered in the am, and I gave him a lite meal, meaning less food for supper. But the next day I just fed as usual. And yeah the drugs can cause the runs.

Thanks Scott.
Barkley wasn't allowed any food after midnight the night before his surgery and then we picked him that evening and they said that he wasn't allowed to have any dinner either, so basically he had no food at all yesterday. The vet said we could resume feeding as usual this morning, which we did and then earlier today he had the loose poop.
I figured that loose stools must be common from the drugs so I won't sweat it. Did Rosco have the runs after his neuter too?

Once the anaesthetic wears off, he should just be back to his old self. The loose stools can be from the drugs or just from the stress of being in a strange place and being poked and prodded.. :o
