Well finally had some time to get the dogs out on a much needed day of energy spending!
It's been pretty cold here lately and the snow is soooo deep, we've kinda been hiding out at home and the dogs have been driving us nuts cause they are bored and want to do something fun so we went and drove to the river (about 40km from here) for some open spaces and scenery.
Here's what I captured:
Shelby is nearly lost in the deep snow:
Shamus re-thinking if he should follow Shelby into the snow:

Waiting patiently for the toy toss:
Shelby loves her flying squirrel toy, AND it stays on top of the snow so we don't lose it!!

Actually the moose was seen just as we were leaving my parents place.
Not an uncommon sighting around here!!
My parents leave bales of hay out for them in the winter so there's usually a crowd of them hanging around.
Since the snow is so deep up here it is a lot harder for them to move around and scavenge for food, so my parents leave them the hay out so they can eat.
Plus with snow so deep it makes them more easy prey for wolves and cougars, so they tend to like to stick around the house where they feel safe.
This results in them sometimes sleeping beside my parents deck or right outside their bedroom window!!
They are not pets by any means, you have to be very cautious of them and respect their space.
They also feed elk and deer during the winter as well as tons of birds.:cloud9:
