Former Kamloops Breeder Receives Lifetime Ban On Owning Animals
A former dog breeder and member of the dog show community in Kamloops has received a lifetime ban on owning animals after she pled guilty to causing distress to 32 animals in her care.
BC SPCA special constables seized 18 long-haired Dachshunds, six cats, five Leonbergers, two cockatiels and one Mastiff from Judd's home and property near Barriere on April 6, 2006. The animals were in various states of distress due to lack of food, water, veterinary care, appropriate shelter and grooming.
This week Judd was sentenced to a lifetime ban on keeping animals, 18 months probation and was ordered to pay the BC SPCA $11,800 in restitution for veterinary and care costs. The animals were cared for at SPCA shelters in Kamloops and Vernon and have since been adopted into loving homes.
