is this a bed, or what! LOL

January 25th, 2007, 09:43 PM
So maika's few bed finally arrived today, her very first! in the bedroom she has a bunch of sherpa squares piled up with a soft blanket on top, and in the livingroom we just put a towel down on the floor for her. we noticed she always laid on that towel, curling up into a little ball on it... so we finally ordered her something special, worthy of our little peanut. (before you shed a tear for dakotah, remember this is the dog that haaates any soft surface and is miserable unless on a cold hard floor, LOL)! we got it from: and got the Large Dog Bed model.

PS: that butt-ugly old chair is going in the dump tomorrow morning!! and maika's bed goes in the corner. finally!

Here is the little princess...

big brother is not jealous at all, on the contrary!

oooohhhhhhhhh this is sooo comfy...

see? all super cushiony...

yep. i think she really likes this...

TD why are you throwing away a "vintage" chair??
I love old furniture

January 25th, 2007, 09:55 PM
great smile from the big boy:thumbs up

January 25th, 2007, 09:58 PM
She looks so comfy :lovestruck: . It will be great for her soreness too :thumbs up .

January 25th, 2007, 10:06 PM
why are you throwing away a "vintage" chair??

funny story... i picked that chair up at the salvation army 8 years ago as a "project". it's very solid and actually quite comfortable, but it badly needs to be upholstered and the wood stripped, sanded, varnished. i got the wood stripping tools and never touched it since, LOL! and then dakotah had a nibble on the front legs when he was a puppy, maika did the same, what can you do with chewed wood? so it's beyond repair at this point... sad, cuz it would have looked really nice all "redone". that thing weighs a ton!

if anyone wants the old thing... LOL! :p

January 25th, 2007, 10:08 PM
i would, except I have no space :yell:
it looks so ....Louis XIV-ish :king:

January 25th, 2007, 10:10 PM
Oh, what an awesome bed!!! She looks so happy! And I laughed so hard at Dakotah's big grin. LOL! Too adorable! :D

January 25th, 2007, 10:26 PM
Great bed... my special Maika gets a thread for herself AND a special treat:D

January 25th, 2007, 10:29 PM
we put "her" towel on the bed and she hasn't moved since... been snoozing on it for 2 hours now, she's out cold :D so yeah... i think she likes it :thumbs up

January 25th, 2007, 10:31 PM
Hey not a bad price either! How long did it take to get?

January 25th, 2007, 10:36 PM
took about a week? or was it 10 days? time goes by so fast... if you order from the canadian website on a weekday, they ship the next day and it's 5 to 10 business days. they fedexed the bed so it was fast (free shipping), totally worth it! when we move and have a bigger bedroom, we're getting this one: is it awesome, or what :cloud9:

January 25th, 2007, 10:41 PM
Oh, I want one for my hounds! It would fit at the end of our bed perfectly!:cloud9: (Now all I have to do is convince my guy.... )

January 25th, 2007, 10:51 PM
if you order anything, make sure to select the Canadian store... the prices are a bit more (of course :frustrated: ) but you'll get your order much faster. it's VERY well made and i'm impressed! and i'll buy another one from them, that's for sure!

January 26th, 2007, 06:04 AM
Nice! I was looking at that site. All the local stores have beds that are at least $200 for Roscos size.

$129 for that isnt bad at all!

And you can choose between Fiber fill or 6" Ortho foam. oh the choices! :p

January 26th, 2007, 01:48 PM
scott did you see this one?

6' x 4'!! :D should be "just right" for your ginormous boy! :p

January 26th, 2007, 01:59 PM
i wonder how much it would cost to make something like that on your own???? we want something for logan but we can afford that!

January 26th, 2007, 02:03 PM
rofl, thats a bit big I think

Hmm, you say it was free shipping? Website says thats for US only. ohh, im tempted. I love that couch bed though!

January 26th, 2007, 02:06 PM
michelle they have more affordable ones :) i got this one cuz it's sooo solid and guaranteed to last many years. my dogsitter got a cheap one for his pitbull (if you consider $40 at Walmart cheap) but the filling keeps getting flat and he has to replace it, the cover is worn through and has to be replaced... the bed is less than 2 years old. i can't imagine this super-bed to not last for years! man it's well-made... :p what they say here is true:

so how about that kraft-dinner eh? LOL :D

January 26th, 2007, 02:08 PM

yep. shipping was included, no taxes. Maika's bed cost $99.95 all included, fedexed to my door :thumbs up when i see small cheap flimsy ugly dog beds at walmart for $50 (plus taxes!), i just have to laugh :clown:

January 26th, 2007, 02:16 PM
hmm, interesting.

Looking at the couch beds, they have the xlarge 50x40, but further down they have a 60x36. I'm not sure if these are the same type of bed or not

January 26th, 2007, 02:26 PM
no i think those are two types... two shapes. it's all about shopping! print out the photos & specs of what you want and compare them side-by-side, maybe?

January 26th, 2007, 02:26 PM
ok new goal, I will learn how to sew and i will make super cool durable pet beds and you can all buy them from me! i will no long er be sooo poor!

at least i can still afford the real KD and heinz ketchup .... when im feeling gormet i turn bread in to toast and add tofu dogsto my KD (not because im a veggie, cause i gave that up, but because i trust veggie hot dog ingredients more than "real" hot dogs)

Technodoll, re: your crappy chair. I have become a self educated pro at repairing dog damaged woodwork and furniture. With a bit of work and some new upholstry that chair would be awesome. Get some decent wood filler (not regular wood putty as it tends to stay soft when it dries, there are some very good epoxy wood putties that harden up well). With a razor knife or a very sharp chisle, clean up the rough sections being sure to get all the splintered wood out. Fill the gouges with filler in thin layers. When you get to the surface height, use some sandpaper to contour the filler to the shape of the piece. Slap a finish on it and you're ready to go (paint or a dark stain ... light stains will not hide the filler).

Re: doggy bed. It looks more comfortable than my own bed. She's looking pretty comfy on it.

I made one for cost : 15$$ -- let me go hunt for a picture of it!

January 26th, 2007, 03:11 PM
sorry for the little threadjack techno! :o

ok, so here's his mother in law was throwing out a I took the foam from 2 of the couch pillows (FREE!! WOOHOO) then sowed a pouch for them (with old material I had lying around), the made the cover with a zipper (so you can remove it and wash it) with some material I bought -- when you go to the material store, they always have a bin with pre-cut material on mega sale....If I had found a piece I liked, it would have cost me even less than 15$$...

anyway, here it is :

even though he doesn't always lie on it 'correctly' :D

Do you take orders Meb? :D

January 26th, 2007, 04:59 PM
Ooo fancy beds! For the sizes though, they aren't badly priced compared to what's out there. I assume that's canadian $$, right?

Meb gots skills! :highfive:

January 26th, 2007, 05:04 PM
yeah up in the right hand corner you can switch from the us/canada sites. And i agree, skills indeed!
