Jumping at cars

I am looking for advice on how to stop my dog from jumping and barking at cars that pass us by. Normally he listens pretty well, but not when there is moving traffic. Thanks.:dog:

When you are walking him?

We had a dog in rescue that was a horrendous car chaser. The foster family started walking him on a halti and would put him in a sit stay everytime a car went by. Of course, they were in a not so high traffic area, not easy to do in say a downtown area. Then when he focused and did not get silly about a car going by, he got a reward. He no longer chases cars and walks beautifully. It takes a few months but they do get over it so persevere!

I haven't tried a halti, but I do try to put him in a sit stay, mostly he just barks and wiggles LOL! I guess I can't understand how he doesn't see the danger....

Dracko will go after tires on bikes or skateboards. Fortunately not cars.

The trainer I went to had me put him in a sit when I saw one BEFORE it approached us so I was in control. It has worked. Suppose if you are walking in a place with LOTS of cars that wouldn't as you'd never get anywhere, though.

I'm sure someone on here has had experience with it as I've heard of many dogs chasing/barking at cars.
