Ana Julia Torres with an African lion Jupiter

CALI, Colombia - Through the bars of his cage, an African lion named Jupiter stretches his giant paws around the neck of Ana Julia Torres and plants a kiss on her puckered lips.

It could be a kiss of gratitude: Since Jupiter was rescued six years ago from a life of abuse and malnutrition in a traveling circus, Torres has fed and nursed him back to health at her Villa Lorena shelter for injured and mistreated animals.

"Here we have animals that are lame, missing limbs, blind, cross-eyed, disabled," said Torres, 47, who relies on donations and her own modest teacher's salary to run the shelter in a poor neighborhood in the southern city of Cali. "They come to us malnourished, wounded, burned, stabbed, with gunshots."

After reading your thread on Jupiter, I just had to register on this forum and share.

On December 30th, the animal plant played their recap for 2007 and there I saw a quick segment on Jupiter. I then searched the web for more information. That kiss/hug footage is very moving.

Moreover, it inspired me to sculpt an African male lion… http://www.handsofcaesar.com/bronze-African-Lion-bust-head-study-sculpture1.html

The lion sculpture is in its rough stages right now, It should be complete within the next two – four months.

I was going to add images, but I cannot figure it out, oh well just go to the site, there is plenty of images there

Sincerely,

Caesar Yanez

The sculpture looks like it's coming along nicely. Hopefully you'll post a picture when it's all finished.

Hi,

I will share the images of the finished sculpture if I can figure out how to post images on this forum.

After going through the FAQ topics yesterday, it appears that this feature is not available to me. Not sure why...

In case I cannot figure it out, you can always visit… http://www.handsofcaesar.com/bronze-African-Lion-bust-head-study-sculpture1.html ... where all the images can be seen for this project.

I will start on the lion’s mane today.

If anyone knows what I need to do to be able to post images here, please let me know?
