hamilton not very dog loving.

Right now i don't think hamilton is a very dog loving city....every day there are letters to the editor about the christmas day rotti incident , and in every one pits are dragged into it. so this is the fuel on the fire that will add rotti's to the banned list...boy will that open another can of worms regarding the has similar characteristics. In todays paper there are 2 letters to the editor one is anti bsl.

The next one is from some very intelligent guy saying that responsible pet owners choose from the many breeds and MUTTS that are not inbred like pits, rotti's and dobe's, aren't all xbreeds MUTTS ? this guy is very pro bsl.

And the last one.
this one stands up for all breeds.

there is another story about pet licenses but i'll leave that out.

I thought the last letter was very well written.

Last one was well written, thats for sure. however, no matter what they will always be dragging pits and rotties into dog bite stories...
They sell papers more i guess.

But the big question really is.........will the liberal gov try and ban rotti's asap because of a looming election.....i say no but it will be a major vote grab.

I think its innevitable, Rotties will be banned soon too, then followed by the next breed on the list... its not gonna stop until everyone stands up and makes it stop.
I have been against the Bully ban from day one. Because i knew it was going to be my beloved Rotties next.
But there are still alot of uneducated, media driven people out there who refuse to learn about breeds before "attacking" them. And the majority of these people run our country.

Well I guess my instincts to start Muzzeling training Duke early on to accept it might pay off:(. I've already heard a few mps are pushing for a ban on German Shepherds, Rottis, Dobermans and Akitas and one Mp wants a new muzzel law so that ALL dogs have to be muzzled in public. Sad days... I guess we might need to do some more protesting down at queen's park in a few month's time *sigh*

i say train your dog to be the best it can be and be proud and muzzle free as long as you can......but yea start slow with the muzzle training, you have time.

We both plan on:) He's going back for the next level of obidence at the end of Feb and then where going for his Good canine citizen test, and start training towards therapy dog work, however I guess if the ban does come into affect he won't be allowed. I can't believe some people are so unwilling to educate themselfes, I plan to write in to all media centers *if* they do want to try and add more breeds to the list and hope maybe we can win round 2 against bsl.

Regardless Duke and I plan to fight BSL just as we did when they first proposed the pittie ban and work to educate as many people as possible and promote the breed in the best light as possible even though he's not pure rottie will still do our part:).
