(no critiquing these, i know they're crap, i was just testing how it felt in my hands, LOL)

TD, those look really good for someone who doesn't know what they are doing! We are going to get mine this weekend. I'm getting a Canon A630. Whoo hoo!

mummummum
December 25th, 2006, 10:24 PM
Those are great techno (point and shoot my aunt's fanny...:thumbs up ). What kind of camera didja get ?

technodoll
December 25th, 2006, 10:26 PM
oh no i swear, they were the first and very random shots! :o just wanted to feel the camera, which i found out later i can't hold with JUST my right hand like I did with my old one, LOL! ya need two hands with this baby... same as Rick C has, a Nikon D80. I have a lot to study and learn now... omg!

Prin
December 25th, 2006, 10:36 PM
ooo lala!! Can't wait to see what you produce after you've read the manual! :) Lucky girly! :)

technodoll
December 25th, 2006, 10:40 PM
prin i may ask you for tips and tricks  that thing almost scares me! one page at a time, i'll get through it... in the meantime i'll be posting half-baked photos for critiquing, he he!

ps: any sugar left? :D

Prin
December 25th, 2006, 10:46 PM
lol yes, lots of nanaimos...

I kind of wish you had gotten a canon, even though the Nikon is a little better (well, more megapixels, but otherwise, I can't tell what else is better). I just know my way around a canon really well.:o But hey, we can still learn stuff from each other.

technodoll
December 25th, 2006, 10:49 PM
i'll be learning lots of techniques from you, hopefully! i think a camera is just a tool to get that fabulous photo... i know nothing of exposure, apertures, depth of field and all that technical stuff yet :frustrated: hopefully it will be fun to learn. i really didn't expect hubby to do this and he's so proud of himself, LOL! he researched it for 3 months, he said. WOW! now i have to make him lots of dinners and give footrubs :D

Prin
December 25th, 2006, 10:51 PM
Oh, well, that stuff I can teach you, lol. I just can't teach you what buttons to press and what knobs to move around.:D

technodoll
December 25th, 2006, 10:52 PM
knobs... uugghh. how about a sling? that thing weighs a ton!

Prin
December 25th, 2006, 10:56 PM
lol You get used to it.:D You saw mine- mine's pretty massive with the big lens on there and everything and I don't mind it at all anymore. :o

brandynva
December 25th, 2006, 11:03 PM
Prin, I want in on these lessons! The one I'm getting will have all that fun stuff. Here's the one I'm looking at. (TD, :sorry: :offtopic: )

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16830120069

btw, TD, I didn't intend for my comment to come out like it didn't look like you didn't know what you were doing. (make sense) I think they look great for someone who CLAIMS they don't know what they are doing. :D Your dogs are beautiful anyway, so I think it would be hard to mess it up...

Prin
December 25th, 2006, 11:06 PM
That's a pretty cool point and shoot camera.:) I can help you with that for sure... I have a crap version of that and the slr version of that, so hopefully I'll know most of the features when you get it.:)

Back to envying techno.:D

technodoll
December 25th, 2006, 11:27 PM
brandy you make me laugh! :D and NO envying, just sharing the fun! and lessons! and hopefully great photos! wooooo!

brandynva
December 25th, 2006, 11:38 PM
Well I'm glad I can make someone laugh. I am definetly in on lessons. Prin, I hope you don't charge... We can pay you in some wonderful photographs. Yeah! :thumbs up

TD, that camera looks really really nice. What is the optical zoom on that baby? My hubby's is 12X optical which makes nice closeups.

Prin
December 25th, 2006, 11:40 PM
lol Brandy, it's an SLR, so it's regular lenses like a 35mm... No 4x zoom and things... :D It becomes 35-80mm zoom or 28-200, etc.:)

technodoll
December 25th, 2006, 11:43 PM
What is the optical zoom on that baby? My hubby's is 12X optical which makes nice closeups

i had to ask hubby since i know nothing yet, LOL! the loaner lens on it now is 18-135, until the one hubby ordered is in next month (18-200, it's on backorder), so I'll end up with 11X optical zoom, he says, but he's just calculating as he doesn't really know :o

brandynva
December 25th, 2006, 11:51 PM
Ahem, ohhh. :o I'm a little dumb when it comes to this stuff. So what is SLR? something lens resolution? I don't know what that other stuff means either. But that's ok. I don't need to know. :D I'll just enjoy the nice pictures that come from it.

technodoll
December 25th, 2006, 11:54 PM
But that's ok. I don't need to know. I'll just enjoy the nice pictures that come from it.

he he, that's my motto too! :D SLR = Single Lens Reflex. that's all i know, not that it means anything to me! LOL

Prin
December 26th, 2006, 12:21 AM
ooo 18-200!! That's going to be fun! Plus the camera adds some extra zoom too...

SLR is the mirror thing... What you see in the viewfinder is exactly what the lens sees. The light goes in through the lens, reflects off mirrors up through the viewfinder and when you take the pic, the mirrors pop up and the data/image collects.

Did everyone get a new digi? I got one too. It is much better than my old one. I can now take decent close up shots. Gee, I wonder who my test subjects were.

Wow! Maybe Santa is working on my new phone line connection--I was actually able to download all but two shots!

Great pictures! :thumbs up Love those snow shots! How close can you focus with the camera, TD? AliSam did you get the same kind of camera as TD?

This Christmas I think my cash is going for new web software, but next year I'm going to shoot for the digital camera. (Doesn't matter if it's heavy--right now I'm using a fully-manual SLR Minolta SRT102 35mm...I swear the thing weighs about 18 pounds! Gets heavier the longer you're walking in the woods... ) So you guys just go ahead and shoot tons of pics so you can advise me on my next camera purchase...we certainly won't mind more pictures of furbabies!

technodoll
December 26th, 2006, 06:03 PM

Those are beautiful TD. I'm envious of your snow though. We haven't seen the first flake here yet. Last year we had snow before Christmas. This week is going to be in the 60's with no snow in sight.  I guess I'll have to live vicariously through you Canadians eh? :thumbs up

Prin
December 27th, 2006, 01:40 AM
LOL those don't work! We were standing in line a few weeks ago, and all the cashes were super busy, and of course, when we were past the point of no return, a new cash opened. The person in front of us couldn't find what she wanted, so the cashier sent a clerk out to look for it but she wasn't really sure she knew what she wanted in the end. Meanwhile, my man and I are frantically pressing the easy button that was on the counter and NOTHING HAPPENED! :yell:

TD: Great choice on the camera! We just got my dad the Nikon SLR D50 for Christmas with 2 lenses (the far one is amazing)... I think that's the 18-200... so you'll love it.

You're doing so well with it so far!
