while doing the weekend grooming the other day (claws, whiskers, a thorough brushing with skin and coat inspection, teeth inspection) i thought "wow when was the last time i cleaned their ears?" I got the flashlight out and peered inside but everything is spic and span in there, nothing at all to clean.

Thinking back, i have never cleaned Maika's ears at all and Dakotah's ears were wiped last spring or so, when he was eating more kibble than raw (he is almost ALL raw now). I know prick-eared dogs have cleaner ears in general than floppy-eared dogs but still i know there is a cause-and-effect between what you feed your pets, and what you see in their health. i loooove raw-feeding! :thumbs up

I've never really cleaned Boo's ears except after a good swim, but Jemma's teeny closed up ears are a pain. *sigh*

erykah, have you put puppy on raw yet? or is he still the "odd man out"? :pawprint:

We used to have to clean Barkley's ears almost everyday when he was on kibble because they kept getting brown gunk in them and they smelled god-awful:yuck: (it makes green tripe smell like :cloud9: ). Ever since we switched him to raw, I haven't had to clean them even once!:highfive: They are absolutely spotless! He is a golden retriever, so he has long, floppy ears and you'd think that I'd still have to clean them from time to time, but I inspect them every week and still nothing. It's been approx 4 months now. Woo Hoo!

Puppy has been on raw since I started ( and he is doing wonderful, his legs are less shaky and his muscle mass is developing nicely, for a displasic doggie)
Meik is odd man out, have to wait until February till the specialist comes up from Guelph. He has stopped passing out/overheating so much since i put him back on kibble. But he still does overheat quick. For now I have been instructed to keep him "quiet" ( impossible for a Border Collie) and not let him get worked up or overly excited, regular excersise is still alright but instead of a long "session" it has to be a whole lot of short ones.
Poor guy, he's missing out on the scrumptious dinners.:(

i switched to raw about 3 weeks ago and Soozie's ears are unbelievable. there is no more infection and bloody looking gunk in them. Not only that, but Bugsey had a big golf ball sized lump on his chest which we had biopsied and they said was pure fat. It is almost all but disappeared. Their breath is awsome and they have tonnes of energy. I am amazed and so is hubby.
