Well Cyrus is a little down after auditioning to play James bond in the new flick, Casino Royale. Not sure why he didn't get the part I think he did an excellent job:)

( just incase anyone wondering theirs a screen in that window so he's in no danger of flying away or being attacked by any wild cats)

Ah a Senegal Parrot, beautiful bird.
There used to be one at the store I worked in and I would spend hours playing with him and talking with him.
They are very intelligent birds and do not like to be far from a human.

Does he speak many words Kayla? I know the one at the store said quite a few and could mimic many noises.

Thanks for the comments guys:) He says hi when he's really really excited or when his favourite person walks into the room ( he constantly switches from my mom, to me and then to my step dad but absolutely hates my younger brother despite early socialization and positive reinforcement even the rescue me scenario). He likes to mumble a lot to himself though and when he's cuddled into you will just talk away but non of it really makes sense lol. He can do a few house hold sounds including meowing like the cats, the microwave, phone and giving the kiss sound when he wants one lol.

They are a lot of fun but just keep in mind parrots can be a lot of work to and all go through a terrible twos period exactly like a child’s however they have very strong sharp beaks and will scream, throw fits and take a chunk out of you. This can last from 1-2 years depending on the species and usually hits anywhere from age 2-5 depending again on the species (usually the larger the species the later in life it hits). They also go through a hormonal period every year in the spring where you will need to watch yourself lol. They also need a lot of human interaction and take up a lot of time, so as fun as they are to have around it's important to do lots of research before you get one and know no matter how much you read it will not prepare you for the amount of joy and sorrow you will spend with a parrot, which is like being caught up in an odd love hate relationship. Your bird will change loyalty’s, make you bleed and you will be its source of unconditional love and not always the other way around, however they will also bring you a lot of joy and love, but their more like kids then dogs or cats.

It's generally said parrots have the emotional capacity of a 2-5 year old ( again larger species generally tend to be a bit more up their on the scale) and the intelligence of a 2-6 year old, making them highly selfish and demanding pets, that combined with the fact they can live anywhere from 12-80 plus years makes them a life long commitment, as such their will be times where you will want to quit and feel completely overwhelemed but you need to work through it just like any long term relationship.

Ultimately despite how many painful bites I have endured ( including Cyrus almost ripping out my eyebrow barbell) and how emotionally fusterating it can be when they decide to they don't like you for a month and want to play with everyone but you, I don't regret bringing him into my life for a second and I deeply cheerish our bond as it was one earned and worked for, not just given.

Just to illustrate how much power their little beaks can have (keep in mind Cyrus is only about 8-9 inchs tall) here's a decent bite ( but not the worst he's ever given me) i recieved a few weeks ago.

(Blurry pic sorry)

Here are a few more pics of Cyrus exploring the Christmas tree:)
