Hello all,
As this is only my second post I thought I should introduce everyone to my 14 week old puppy Duke. He's a Rottiwiler/ German Shepherd and Rough Coated Collie mix who came into my life 6 weeks ago. I've since enrolled him in puppy classes at an indoor dog park near me as well as joined the puppy club with him which is a two hour play session for the puppies to make sure he gets lots of socilization with other dogs as well as new enviroments and sounds at this critical period in his development.
He's extremely intelligent and has already mastered all of his basic commands besides stay and down which he is working at but has mastered sit, come, off, go potty, fetch, and leave it and has improved walking on the lesh amazingly. When I first brought him home he was pretty timid around other dogs but has since improved amazingly with the puppy obidence classes and with help from my friends dogs ( he's fully vaccinated already no worries) who have showed him dogs are friends that just want to play. He also had a tendancy to nip at heel to try and herd us no doubtly from the German shepherd and Collie in him however with positive reinforcement and using a can full of pennies for distraction he's pretty much siezed it completely. He's being crate trained and is almost completly house broken and now runs up the stairs and paws at the door to let us know he needs to go.
Food wise he gets Wellness three times a day and enjoys three long walks a day plus lots of play and comes hiking on most of the wooded trails in our area with a friend and her beautiful pound puppy Gypsy who was on death row and who our best guess places her background being a German shepherd and maybe an Australlian Cattle dog who is now extremely bonded to Duke and enjoys grooming him and treating him like her puppy. He was also very close with our 12 year old Boxer who unfortunatly was diagnosed with lynfomia cancer ( sorry if that's spelt wrong not sure excactly what the type of cancer was besides that it was causing all of her lymph noids and surronding glands to swell) on her birthday on the 20th of October and her large tumor was deemed very dangerous to remove and because of her age it was kinder to let her pass on.
Anyways here are a few pics of the little guy for anyone interested in seeing how much he's grown in the last 6 weeks.
