I'm kind of nervous. Ted is my feral cat. He's going to the spay/neuter clinic at Vanier College. What if he totally freaks out when I lock him in the cage? What if, for some reason, he doesn't do well with the anesthesia? What do I do afterwards, bring him home and let him out of the cage? I guess he'll just go under the back porch and sleep it off, but it still makes me nervous.

I would like to think that your cat would be awake enough from the anesthic that you could let it out of the cage when you return home, however if that is not the case and the cat is not too steady on it's feet the cage would be the best place for it rather than out in the open where it could damage the incision. Perhaps neither is ideal for a feral cat but it seems to me that keeping it in close quarters until fully functional is the least of the two evils.

I think keep him closed in until things heal up, Its better IF he gets hurt that he is still confined enough to perhaps return to the vet.
Thanks for doing this for him
