My dog injured his knee 1 1/2 weeks ago. Today he started peeing tons of blood all over the carpet. When my husband brought him to the vet he told him his ACL needed to be repaired. More tests have to be run to see why he is peeing blood. I guess my question is is there any other reason besides a bladder infection that he could be peeing blood for. When I got home and saw how much blood there was all over I am thinking the worst! Anyhow, we are going to get the surgery on his ACL done but we want to see the results of his blood work first.

Sorry to hear that!
Pls let us know the outcome.
What caused the leg injury? Trauma of what kind? Could this trauma have caused some internal injury to organs?

Well , the ACL was torn after he slipped on one of my daughter's toys. He was running and tripped on this doll. He began to limp but we didn't think it was really anything too serious. The next day he was fine. However, after that day he slipped again on the lino in our kitchen. The vet asked if he had been hit by a car but he is NEVER loose because beagles take off and never return! The vet says it is to separate things. The slip did not lead to the blood, but i am a worried wreck! He is spending the night at the vet's and we will get the blood results tomorrow. If all is ok, if he only has a bladder infection Peanut will be getting the surgery on Monday, but if the results are not very good we are going to have to look at the options. I have been reseaching a bit on the web, but the more info you look for the worse information you are given. Thanks for caring. I will let you know what happens:(

Does your vet have 24 hr attendant there with your dog?

I have no idea actually. MY husband is the one who went with
him. The vet was actually taking him to the next town which is 45 minutes away, where his other office is. I actually think he brought him to his home. He is really good and has a set up there for emergency situations.

When u talk in the morning find out.
You don't want your dog to be staying alone at night when he's sick. He's better off either with you or at a 24hr facility.
Pls keep posted :D
