Some funny moments on the mountain

Yesterday, we went for a walk . . . .

We were blown off one part of a mountain where we really wanted to go - I needed two hands and all my gription to shut the truck door against the wind - and ended up at this unmarked place yesterday, walking up to the ridge in the background to see what was on the other side.

Keeper gives her head a shake . . . .

Abby slides down a steep slope on her back, wiggling her bum to give her some speed. I've seen her do this before but never caught her on camera . . .

Abby is the first at the top . . .

. . . . . and races to the bottom.

This was also a windswept, barren place . . . we were about 100 km south and west of Calgary. We had originally wanted to walk the ridge in the distance but the wind was ferocious.

Abby is very much a picture of health (knock on wood), trim and untiring . . . . there really isn't any challenge she can't handle and, if anything, she's impatient that she has to wait for me to keep up. I took her 17.5 km around Upper Kananaskis Lake earlier in the summer and she was ready to immediately go around again.

Keeper is plagued by growing arthritis in one of her front legs, some mild hip issues, allergies and does fairly poorly in the heat but much better in the winter . . . . she's got a big heart but I have to be careful with her. She also made the 17.5 km hike above but was hopping around on three legs for days afterward. She has various medications to help with the arthritis, hips, etc.

I wonder if dogs appreciate the scenery that they see like we do? Do you ever see your dogs just looking off into the view before them? It is so beautiful there how could they not enjoy it.
I know Tucker sits outside at our cottage and just looks around, I wonder what goes through his mind? I know he loves it there, so is he just enjoying the view?

I think they're probably just surveying the landscape looking for things to kill or chase away . . . . but that's just me.

Keeper is the introspective one . . . .

I absolutely love that picture. I would seriously buy it and hang it!!!:cloud9:
My favourite view of a dog is the back of their head:love: and this one has that along with a remarkable view.
I would love to have your talent and live where you live, it really is a paradise.
People tell me all about the scenery here in Newfoundland, but I guess I take it for granted...:( , I think that your pictures have started a new love of nature for me.

.

Well, Abby & Keeper have been thinking of going commerical with prints, calendar, time planner, etc for a while now and Carol is actually framing a few things for the local hair salon and flower shop as we speak . . . . but their dad has to get his butt going on a business plan and coherent strategy, research, etc . . . . and he's having trouble finding the time and inclination for that since his real life business takes up most of the day. :sorry:

For your viewing pleasure, a picture from last year which I turned into a painting . . . . Keeper on the trail in a park not far from our home actually.
