chicken frames

November 3rd, 2006, 01:48 PM
hubby picked up a box of fresh chicken frames at lunchtime today, was $7.80 for 35lbs - if anyone wants details, let me know... it's a processing & distribution plant so always very fresh and human-grade (restos buy this for making soup stock)... also great for recreational chewing bones for the doggies or kitties, or part of a raw diet for the furkids ... at $0.22/lbs, you can't go wrong :thumbs up

so tonight begins the chore though... we'll grind, package and freeze about 2/3 of the frames (end product looks like ground chicken, we mix it with raw meat to form a complete meal), the rest will stay intact and serve as recreational chewing for the beanies, and soup-stock base for us :)

just thought to pass the info around in case any montrealers are interested!

yeah, what's left after the filets, legs and wings are taken off...

still some meat on there, but not enough for a balanced raw meal (you have to add meat, like cheap beef heart for example). makes awesome soup stock though, i tell ya! :p
