Has anyone had this experience?

Hi to all and my deepest sympathy. I just wanted to ask if what I have experienced has happened to anyone else. My dog Oreo died on Saturday. As you can imagine we were all so upset. She died at the animal hospital. We were crying and upset. Then we heard a tapping at the door. Oreo used to do this when she was out and wanted to come in. My husband looked at me and said "my God its Oreo" . (Might I add that he is a pretty concrete fellow). The door was closed, it was not windy. It sounded just like her. My dogs were barking at the door and wagging their tails. We opened the door and said "come in Oreo". The knocking stopped. I believe she did come home to let us know she is with us in some sense. This happened with another dog I had Max. We heard him in the house walking around the night he died. Is this common? :rip:

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had sort of similar experiences, but nothing that other people could hear.:o I chalk it up as the brain expecting some sort of routine. But in your case, if everybody reacted... that's a little spooky.:o

I'm very sorry to hear about Oreo. Sounds like she may have come home, though, which must be of some comfort. This has not happened to me before although i'd like to think my dog and cat who have passed away are still with me. I do have a friend who says her mom sees spirits. She bought a used mattress one time that came with a 'ghost' cat who would just sleep there on the bed.

Maybe like Prin said, our brains trick us this way.
When my sweet Sammy died, for a long time I kept"seeing"him curled up in his favourite chair..

The day Sophie died I swear on a stack of bibles, I felt her brush up against me while I was at the computer. I looked down expecting to see Missie or Piper and no one was there. I like to think she came home to be with me. I still miss my baby.

I've always had visitations...usually within a few days of a (furry, feathery, skin) friend's death. I'll be doing something totally unrelated, in my mind's eye I'll see a face, or feel a wing flutter, or hear a dog's soft breath...and then I'll get a warm feeling...like a tingle...and then it will be gone. I'm not a particularly spiritual or superstitious person, but I believe they all come to say goodbye... Always makes me feel better.

I just lost my precious cat Rascal. When he was outside, he would jump and cling to my kitchen window screen when he wanted in. I've heard the sound a few times and always look expecting him there. I'm usually a very scientific person and need proof b4 i believe something, but I always felt spirits were a definite possibilty. I also believe that if there truly is a soul and afterlife, then animals will be there too. Why do most humans think they're only the special ones with souls. I think animals have the purest, kindest souls and deserve that a lot more then a lot of people. Just my thoughts. I mean no disrespect.
