dog hair loss

hi my name is andy (1st time user )

i have a 9 yr old collie cross (shadow) and he started with a bald patch on his back but now his hair is comming out in clumps, (back legs and under his neck), im for ever pickig it up from the floor, but he also suffers from fleas which is being treated, we got him from a rescue home (which may i add was..u had to wipe your feet on the way out, it was a mess), in sept last year..the owner left the dog out in the garden and moved to canada, the dog was left on concrete and ended up with bald patches on his paws which will not heal.
my kids love our family pet...can anyone help.

welcome to the board. Has your vet ruled out mange? If you haven't already you should check it out with your vet. Poor Shadow.
Tell us what your vet has ruled out, if you've already taken him.

yeah, first thing I would do is take him to the vet

Definitely go to the vet,could be thyroid related,no way to know without a vet check and blood work.
