Get kissably close

Okay since we've all seen the eye photos and loved them, I figure it's about time we have a close up's thread.
So post them all here, whatever your close up may be...and show everyone how kissably close to your pet you can get!

Here is a close up of MoJo's smily face:

And here is one of her nose, I love her little nose:

Fat Huey is losing a little weight now that I've switched them from dry Science Diet to canned Natural Balance :)

Actually - on that subject, I have some really good news. Sultan (the gray kitty in the picture) was diagnosed with the beginning stages of diabetes last month :( So, before going straight to insulin injections, our vet agreed to let us try to get her glucose level under control by adjusting her diet for four weeks and then bring her back to recheck her. It worked!! No need for injections at this point! :thumbs up We'll continue to get her checked every other month.

LOL I dont think any of them have tried to lick the camera. They've gotten to the point where they glare at me and walk away. Gizmo the chocolate guy in the pics, usually runs and hides. So, did you feed the canned Natural Balance to Sultan too and it was that that brought her glucose levels down?

Sorry to hijack the thread guys, but I'm very excited about this...I'll stop after responding to Rainbow :sorry:

Rainbow,
When Sultan was diagnosed the vet told us that we should try switching her from the dry Science Diet R/D that she was on (and so were the other two) to canned Science Diet M/D that's supposed to be great for cats with glucose level issues. Well, we all know what I feel about Science Diet at this point! So, I did a lot of research on cat foods and came up with a few I wanted to try out on Sultan. The vet's main point was that she should not be on dry, high-carb foods because that's probably what's causing her sugar levels to be out of control (hmmmm...how interesting considering my vet's office SELLS Science Diet dry). So - to kill two birds with one stone, I switched all three cats to canned, natural food because the other two are over weight (especially Huey, obviously). We've been feeding the R/D because the vet said it would help them lose weight.

So, I tried Nutra's Natural Choice canned (several flavors), and DVD's Natural Balance (multiple flavors). They were so-so about the Natural Choice, but they LOVE the N. Balance!! Especially the Venison & Green Peas.
I just got VERY strict with their diets. Three times/day, the same time every day, the same amount and I linger over them like a hawk now to make sure they're not eating eachother's leftovers & to make sure the dog doesn't sneak in and gulp it all up.

Got Sultan retested - and her levels were down to normal! I'm no vet, but I'm just assuming it must be the food switch!

rainbow
October 21st, 2006, 02:30 PM
:sorry:

I'm sorry too but just a quick reply. Shaggy Rudy, thanks for doing all the research so you could get Sultan off the Science Diet. And, so glad to hear that the NB has brought her glucose levels down. You are a good mom. :thumbs up

Wow, I'd never be able to deny the "Shelby stare"!

trippincherri
October 21st, 2006, 09:30 PM
Ha ha ha yep that stare is VERY powerful.
Oh and if I don't kick or throw whatever she's put in front of me she barks non stop till either I give in and play with her or sometimes I just go in the house. I think that is definitley the border collie side of her, she HAS to "talk" me through everything we do.
She will bark till there is no tomorrow and it drives me insane. I am very thankful my neighbours are so understanding lol.
And hyper! My goodness she is high energy, she will retrieve till she is nearly dragging herself back to you, we have to hide her toys so she relaxes a bit and catches her breath.
As for Shamus....he is such the basset hound. Laid back, plays for maybe 10 minutes then sits down and watches everybody. Only barks when he is asked to or someone comes to the door. He is NICE and QUIET!!!

Nah, Royce is the nice one, and he's a bit skittish. Not a mean bone in his body.

I can certainly see the Australian Shepherd in Walnut with those beautiful markings. Is there any noticeable Chow in her?

The only thing that points to Chow is how heavy bodied and deep chested she is. Really, her profile mostly resembles german shepherd, as do her ears, and she has a perfect german shepherd tail, only aussie shepherd trait is her coloring. Her siblings looked a lot more Chow than her, and she was the only one that came out with the funny pattern, the rest were just plain black or brown.

:offtopic: Unfortunately we don't have my evil bird anymore :( .
We gave her to someone that knew a whole lot more about birds and could give her the time and care that she needed.

She was kind of evil 'cause she hated my b/f and she'd plan ways to figure out how to attack him, lol. If she didn't like you she would bite and then laugh maniacally because she thought it was funny. She absolutely hated men. She had several other personality flaws that made her appear evil, unfortunately these are also the reason she couldn't ever get the attention she needed (parrots require several hours a day of attention devoted strictly to them, just like a child). Quakers have an intelligence and care level on par with an african grey, which we didn't understand when we bought her.
This is her:

If she didn't like you she would bite and then laugh maniacally because she thought it was funny. She absolutely hated men. :

Hating men isn't necessarily a flaw...depends on which men and how much trouble they happen to be in! :D And we're not really off-topic--she certainly looks kissably close  even if she did have a tendency to bite lips off.... :D

Hating men isn't necessarily a flaw...depends on which men and how much trouble they happen to be in!

She hated ALL men...unless they gave her a pretzel, then they were her friend...until the pretzel was gone, then she'd bite them. Unfortunately we couldn't feed her pretzels for 8 hours a day, so she continued to hate men, lol. She'd bite women too, she just wasn't as rabid about it.

I like a bird that asserts herself. Bet she'd get my dogs to toe the line pretty fast! I had a budgie that pretty much ran the house--had the springer cowed into thinking we had angels that would hover over her head and would pull the setter's tail hairs out when he wasn't looking!

I love all these pictures! Prin, I know you've heard this before but Jemma's eyes are beautiful! I can't remember who said their dog was GSD and chow mix. You commented that you couldnt' really see the chow in her, I can't in my Mileva either. She looks pure GSD, except she's a little on the smallish side. Anyway, here's a kissably close up of Roscoe:

We have our backyard fenced in and whenever we let Mileva in from out back he chases her all the way into the basement door. I will get a picture of him doing this because it is hilarious. You have a little bitty duck and a 60 pound dog running as fast as she can away from it. He also chases my daughter. We are currently incubating more eggs, so I may have some pictures of babies in the next week or so. I will also give Roscoe a cookie and tell him it's from you.
