A loong time ago,I had Tigger a beautiful Maine Coon brown tabby.
My 3 sons were young and by accident let Tigger sneak out the door and he was gone.I looked everywhere and was close to hysterical,he was only 7 months old and had never been out.
Just by chance I saw a HS-Truck pull into a drive-way up the street and a man pull out this limp looking animal from under the hood of his car.I ran up there and it was my Tigger.Bloodied and in bad shape.
I followed HS to the vet and he cleaned him up and checked him,Tigger needed extensive treatment, many many stitches,an eye had to be removed, his ear had been sliced off..
but he was still alive.
At the time,we were new to Canada, had 3 kids and no money,I begged and pleaded, suggested I would work at the vet for free and anything else I could do as long as the vet would save my Tigger.
Well,dr Smith,a vet known for his compassion worked on Tigger for 2 weeks,he had many scars but was recovering nicely.
One day Dr Smith called me and said Tigger was ready to go home,I know the treatments would have been probably about $1.000 if not more. Dr Smith handed me a bill for $50,I could not believe his kindness and devotion.
He was also the vet who unfortunately two years later had to put Tigger down for kidney-failure,but I'll never forget this man...
even to this day 35 yrs later.
When this good man died of cancer, there was a two-page story on him in the local paper and his life devoted to animals and their care.A wonderful, wonderful man:)

Yes,he was an amazing man,we all joked about him being bald, but he had shaved his head before he started chemo..I had no idea he had cancer. He was only 40 when he died, but he's up there now taking care of all the animals:-)He probably chose to go over the Rainbow bridge where all his friends were:-)
