I absolutely LOVE the first one of Maika - so intelligent!

Its so cute that Dakota's nose is pink inside!

Any more!?:D

I LOVE your girly girl, she's soo darn cute, one would think with her darker coat(and nose) that the inside of her ears would also be dark and Dakotah is one handsome man, his pink lips, and even his nostrils are pink I think it makes him look gentle and sweet. They look like two sleepy dogs that just want to go to bed:cloud9:

That's funny that we both saw the same thing:D

dakotah was born with a pink nose, that gradually pigmented as he grew older (white and "split-mask" akitas often pigment this way), but the inside nostrils remain pink... and his big flappy lips never pigmented totally to black, which is a fault in the breed standard. but we love him anyways :D

hims getting a big head like his daddy's, and he's not even 3 years old yet :thumbs up

maika was concentrating on the big funny new camera daddy was holding, she doesn't normally look so "studious", LOL! :p

Adorable! Maika's got such a sweet face... Dakotah looks so serious.:D

I have to ask though... Why are Dakotah's jowls rusty?

October 6th, 2006, 07:36 AM
I just Love Maika's color. She's gorgeous! (Dakotah is a cutie too!) Anyone have camera tips to avoid photo-ing the retina? (green glow eyes) I wonder if you shoot them at a bit of an angle if that helps.

I swear, your pups look like the snuggliest pups I've ever seen! they are gorgeous, and I'll never tire of looking at their pics... keep 'em comin!

LOL if you ever have a white-faced dog with big flappy jowls... you'll understand :D Half the time those lips rest inside his mouth, wedged against his teeth, and get stained with saliva, food, blood, enzymes, dirt, etc. under his chin it's more rust-colored than white, and his elbows are also stained dark rust. Once in a while I bleach his elbows but I can't bleach his face, it's too dangerous  Many white-faced dogs also deal with "tear stains" and no product in the world can get that fur white again. Ah, I miss my pure-faced puppy! :D

thank you everyone for your kind words!

Ahh... Ok. I've never had a white doggy before. :o

More pics! :D

Your dogs are so beautiful TD. I never tire of looking at them.

Maika is now on my desktop.:D

And I know what you mean about the white fur...Melei's got the tearstains and I can't get rid of them, but I have discovered that baby oil will fade them quite a bit.

I too never tire of seeing pics of your beenies ( why do you call them that btw??)

it was a strange evolution from dakotah, to cody, to cody-bean, to beanie... and well, we have two beanies now, LOL! :D we don't call them that to their faces though, they'd be miffed :p

akitas, like any other dogs, are the most wonderful companions if well-bred (temperament), well-socialised and "edumacated". they ARE big, happy, cuddly loving bears! However, as a general rule (and there are many exceptions, mind you) they are intolerant of same-sex dogs and have the physical power to really cause damage in a fight. Akitas are a very old, very primitive breed and throughout their history, the japanese used these majestic dogs for dog fighting  it didn't last long in the scope of history, but the name stuck... japanese fighting dogs. they are also known as Nanny Dogs, how ironic is that?

In the wrong hands, akitas can be deadly weapons because of their size, strength and stubborness but no more so than rotties, shepherds, bullies.... it's so easy to blame the whole basket for one rotten apple, which is why you find them on some BSL lists around the world :(

In the right hands, akitas are loving, gentle, devoted, dignified, funny and intelligent companions who would never hurt a fly :D
