Autumn's Glory

Ellen Degeneres was asking for fall pics from across the continent, since she doesn't really get 'fall' in her neck of the woods (LA?). So I took a few pictures out of my yard this morning to send to her. I thought it would be great to see some fall pics from other people's gardens (I'm looking at you, Chico2! :D ).

We've finally gotten a cold snap that's literally turned the Japanese Maples to Fall colors overnight.

We had pretty good color this year--but it went really quickly. The maples were delayed a bit, which brought they into synch with the oaks and the peak was absolutely breath-taking.

This is just a few feet south of our property line:

This was the view towards our only permanent neighbor:

Just to the north is the intersection where the only paved road comes into town. This was the view looking east along that road:

And this was right across the road at the end of our drive:

And one more, of a fall rainbow, just because I so rarely can get one of these to turn out... :D

20022

No garden shots, though--my thumb is green, but only because it's moldy. :frustrated:

Ooooooh! Your rainbow almost was a double!

Actually, it was double...it's just that, being slow, I didn't get the camera out until it was well past its glory :(

I LOVE all the fallcolours,it's the bare dead look of everything when the leaves are off,I don't like:sad: The in-between time before we get snow.
The snow makes everything white and pretty again.
Not that I love snow, but we live in Canada after all and it makes the spring a very happy event:cat:
