Thank you in advance for anyone who can help with my question. One of my pugs was treated about 5 months ago for demodectic mange. She no longer has mange, but the hair she lost during the outbreak has not grown back. Does anyone know if this hair loss is permanent? Or if there is anything I can to do promote new hair growth? Thank You! Michelle

When we have an area that is healed but no hair grown back yet, we generally apply tea tree oil to the area. It's promotes healing and hair growth from what we've seen. Just make sure with your vet that it's ok to apply something natural to the area first.

my dog had demodex also, as a pup. the mange itself cleared up rather quickly, but it did take quite a few months for his fur to grow back (and he's a basenji-x, with that very short hair). I remember him looking like he was "moth eaten". but rest assured the fur loss was not permanent, it just took time for it to fill back in.
