Facial and lower limb swelling

Has anyone any ideas on this. Our female Rottweiler (approx. 5 yrs old) developed rapid left-side facial swelling. She was not distressed, and the upon examination the vet suggested she was probably bitten by a bee. Antibiotics were prescribed preventively. The swelling reduced in a couple of days.
2 weeks later, the swelling recurred and she became very lethargic. As well there was swelling in one rear "ankle". She needed help to stand up, but once moving seemed fine. Again no distress. A return to the vet: spine and hip xrays revealed no problems, needle biopsy of the limb swelling revealed no problems, blood count and assessment revelaed slightly raised alkaline phosphatase, but further liver tests revealed no problems. Heart sounds, rate, temperature all appear normal.

We are at a loss to explain her condition.

Hi...just a thought,

Maybe the vet was right the first time and it was a bee sting.

and....when your dog went outside the second time it wandered to a place where there are many bees (ie near a hive of flower patch) and was stung a second time....I'd check around your property for bee hives.
