While on the web site for Illinois Doberman rescue, they have a puppy listed there that has puppy cataracts. They say he has them because he was given a milk supplement. I usually give my fosters Canine Mammalac, but in its advertising refers to the product as a milk replacement. Does anyone think that they could be the same products? I am very worried because I have been using both the canine and feline milk replacements for a long time. I hope that some one can help me with this.

I don`t really know, but I think the only way a pup that young could have cataracts would be if they were congenital. Our old dog had them as a pup but didn`t loose her sight completely until she was about 8; one of her littermates had very bad cataracts at birth. The only thing I know of that actually causes cataracts are steriods, like prednisone use can cause them in people. I hope you hear from someone that knows more about whats in the milk suppliments.
