From the dog food project:

I have received word from Old Mother Hubbard, informing me that menadione has been removed from their Wellness line of dog food.

Production batches with a code date of August 2007 are free of this artificial vitamin K supplement.

Thumbs up for yet another manufacturer who has decided to remove this unnecessary ingredient!

Yey! We can almost recommend it again... Still waiting for any dirt on the kidney thing (I don't think it's true, but  ).

Why almost? What is this kidney thing??? Is it the renal failure thing or a new issue? My boy loves his Wellness and it is recommended by my vet (this makes it hard to persuade my wife to switch to any other food). :pawprint:

Sorry, this thread is so old...:o There were rumors that Wellness was affecting dogs' kidneys, but I think it was just one dog, and the dog was old, and the word just spread like wildfire (she told a shop owner, and the shop owner told customers...).

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with Wellness (other than it's a little grainy...:D).

phew... relieved now :)

What is this grainy thing? lol I want to know everything. I can guess it has too many grains in it? Is this bad or just unnecessary?

Thank you in advance for answering all my questions Prin. :D

It's not terrible, but the more grain in a dog food, the less is digested, and the more you're paying for poop. They also tend to cause allergies. Some grains are better than others (wheat is the worst, IMO, and millet and oats are better...).

In the end, it's whatever works best for your pet.:)
