Hey all you reading pet'peevers (haha)
I want to let you know that I am sitting at home anxiously awaiting a call for us to pick up our new pup Sadie from a meet location.
I'll let you all know how it turns out. If I'm away or not on very much for awhile you'll understand!
Thanks for all of your support everybody!!!

So?? So??? Is she here yet, is she here yet...?
A friend of mine just got her new Dobe puppy (from a breeder in Canada) a few days ago. She's apparently not getting much sleep - pupper has a few words to say about her crate!!

Sadie's coming home!!!!!:D
Carina, just curious - is that Dobie breeder in Quebec? I have one near me, and she is just outstanding. I nearly got a puppy from her, even though she has a waiting list a mile (and years) long.
January 31st, 2004, 09:18 PM
It's almost 10:30 and I'm still waiting for the call.
There was another little delay...poor Sadie will be on the road almost 12 hours now the sweet dear!
I'm soooo anxious to get her home and get her safe and warm.
Apparently she's got diarrhea and is on flagyl. They did it as a precaution however as the vet indicated no parasites.
I'll keep you updated
I promise :D
**I LOVE Those bananas**
Hey Carina congratz for your friend and her new puppy :D
January 31st, 2004, 10:32 PM
Aww, Luba I'd be pacing the house and worrying about little Sadie too! She's going to be SO happy to be home with you...!
Thanks for the Dobe! :)
LR - I can't remember the breeder's name; I'll find out when I talk to Martha next. She got a lovely male from this person (who is an excellent breeder) three years ago, and has been waiting anxiously for her little girl to get here (just like Luba!) I don't think this person has that many litters, so if the woman you know has an 8 week old litter going out the door about now, it may be...and I do think it could be around Quebec....
OK, I'll check back later for Sadie news! :)

hahahahahahhahaha :D :D :D
PS LR... good morning! lolol ;)
February 1st, 2004, 12:55 PM
Well she's had 3 very liquid forms of movement today *(bleck)
And I got her on some rice right now. I'm gonna ask my vet tomorrow about the flagyl, seems to be making the situation worse.
Chico the only other animal that's here according to my mom is ME! HAHAHHA
Well wAggies she loves attention and someone has obviously allowed her up on EVERYTHING so we're workin on that. She spent 1/2 her night in a crate but when she started whining like she didnt' know where she was I brought her into my room with me and she fell asleep next to me.
She tries to remember to go on the paper but so far it's been mostly the carpet and kitchen floor (good thing I didn't steam clean just yet haha!)
Her markings are almost all Collie I completely agree.
She's really so very sweet and adorable, razor teeth stage right now LOL!
Ankles, hands, hair, ears, nose you name it she's trying!!!
February 1st, 2004, 01:03 PM

February 2nd, 2004, 04:07 PM
First vet trip today just got home
Well we went to the Vets today to see why she's been having diarrhea, so some tests are being done (hope she doesn't have parvo)
Keeping her on the Flagyl
Blending her food with some rice and cottage cheese
Hopefully it will solve in a few days :D
She slept with me last night, I awoke to her chewing on my hair and my ears ..... who needs to get another piercing and pay for it this gals teeth are so sharp she can do it herself.
I should open a piercing salon...anyone up for it ??? hahah!
We're guessing she was born late November or early December...We decided Dec1st/2003 her birthday :D (another December wAggies)
February 2nd, 2004, 05:38 PM
Congratulations Luba! What a very cute puppy,Love the pics
February 2nd, 2004, 05:49 PM
she looks like she grew since the last pix u posted!
... I didn't know dogs could eat cottage cheese, hehe
maybe she's simply stressed after such a loooooooooong trip!
February 2nd, 2004, 06:56 PM
Thanks deerclan :D
Yah they can have cottage cheese esp pups that need to gain weight or have irritable bowels for sure :D
unless they're allergic to dairy it does them good
February 2nd, 2004, 06:58 PM
fanks for the info!
I'll keep that in mind next time we're @ the grocery store...
tho somehow I think Honey'd be lactose-intolerant like her mommy... :o
February 2nd, 2004, 07:07 PM
A better alternative to feed would be boiled chicken and rice - heavy on the rice. Cottage cheese is often added to fatten dogs up, and Sadie looks roly-poly enough already!!:D
Is it my imagination, or has she gotten still cuter in the last day??
February 2nd, 2004, 07:44 PM
Yu know what LR she's pretty skinny under that fur..its all fuzzy fur she's a slimmy HONEST!
I wanted to try the chicken but I'm scared to upset her tummy even more..she's tolerating the Medical Gastro blended with rice and cottage cheese. So she's not dehydrating thankfully.
Parvo test is expensive man!!
February 2nd, 2004, 07:44 PM
Congrats Luba, and Welcome home Sadie!!!!!!:D
She sure is a beauty. I love all those pics. She's just sooo adorable. Give her a hug and kiss for me.:D
February 2nd, 2004, 07:45 PM
She's going to be a big girl. I hope you'll keep posting pics of her, I'd love to see what she looks like growing up!!:)
February 2nd, 2004, 07:47 PM
Plus she just looks so smart & alert!
February 2nd, 2004, 07:52 PM
Oh Luba,I just want to squeeze her.
She is adorable...:D
Please keep the pics coming....
I will never get tired of seeing them.:D
February 2nd, 2004, 07:56 PM
Parvo test?? Did Rosie say anything about the diarrhea, or what was causing it? Have you contacted them?
February 2nd, 2004, 07:57 PM
plz keep posting the pix, we looooooove them :D
and her prognosis!
...btw, what the parvo test for? and price range?
February 2nd, 2004, 08:00 PM
She has figured out how to bark, lmaooo it's sooo funny!
She gets barking for no reason then starts running in herding circles as if she had sheep to herd its' hillarious.
The parvo I asked for because of where she came from and the fact that her sister who's no longer with her hasn't been for a couple of weeks developed the same symptoms.
I'm just sending an email to the shelter now...they're wonderful folks. Very concerned about her!
February 3rd, 2004, 09:32 AM
Keep them pics of your new puppy coming Luba I think my wife is about to give up and let me have another pup of my choice LOL
Once again Luba beautiful puppy....enjoy
February 3rd, 2004, 12:12 PM
Okay puppy lovers
SADIE'S TEST IS NEGATIVE FOR PARVO YIPPIE!!!!!!!!!!
She has some gastroenteritis thats non descript at this point and we're keeping a close eye on her. She may be back to the vets tomorrow if things don't start to improve.
Sooo deerclan what kinda dog do ya want... I can hook ya up really good if you want a dog from Rosies' They are super people!
There is actually a pair if you want two, named Queenie and Lucky who are beautiful dogs have to go together though, LR knows all about them.
They have loads of dogs coming in and they don't have much room.
I'm sure if anyone near Rosies' would even apply to foster they would be appreciative.
February 3rd, 2004, 04:57 PM
thanks for your Kindness Luba
I would like another thinking dog. Earlier this year i was turned on to Rottweilers by a friend at work who owns a 8 year old big sucky baby. I would prefer a pup or young adult female.
Let me know Luba what Rosies has or i can go and have a look at what she's got
February 3rd, 2004, 05:30 PM
Congratulations on the parvo test! Just in case it might help I am providing my experience with my little guy who also got very sick when I got him. It might help with ideas.
When Oliver was new to my house (he is now six months) he had vomitting and diarrhea within a week of arriving. I immediately called his vet in the morning to see if he should come in right away. I was told to wait and see how he was in the afternoon. By afternoon, he was so dehydrated that he had to be put on IV for three days (this was in less than 12 hours - a lesson to all of those out there on "Ask the Vet" who do not immediately seek advice from their vets when their pets are experiencing vomitting and/or diarrhea). In any event, my vet immediately did x-rays and a parvo test. The parvo test came back negative and the x-ray only showed that his bowels were irritated - no foreign objects ingested. My vet then conducted a full parasite screening and found out that Oliver had "friends". Seems that he had a bad reaction to coccidia which he could have picked up anywhere, including off the sidewalk. It was explained that not all puppies react so badly to parasites but a small number can become very sick. Once properly treated he was 100% (and still is!)
To make a long story short, I am not sure if your vet has already run these tests but if he/she has not, it is very worthwhile!
Best of luck to you and congrats on the new bundle of joy!
February 3rd, 2004, 06:39 PM
Yes deerclan simply click on the link and you'll see what they have available at the shelter right now.
Also they are always looking for foster homes :D
WOW sounds like your dog went through a lot! Sadies being run for more parasitology work, she was given panacure 2x before ...but she has been in contact with other dogs.
Her results should be back within the next day on the rest of what they were running. I'll be sure to ask my vet about that one and thanks so very much for letting me know about that!
February 3rd, 2004, 06:49 PM
Being a foster parent would be great never considered that option Luba
Can i have that link again i must have missed it
February 3rd, 2004, 07:56 PM
Deerclan, you won't find any Rotties at Rosies! Have you definitely decided that is the breed you want?
Believe it or not, there is a Rottie rescue in Brampton!! They are desperate for foster homes.;)
February 3rd, 2004, 08:46 PM
Yes, the poor little guy did go through a lot. He was so scared the first night at the clinic that one of the lab techs held him all night to keep him from crying :( Luckily my clinic has 24 hour staffing for the critical care/overnight patients so the trauma of being in a strange and scary place was minimized. They took such excellent care of him and my cat (that's another story - really, I am a good owner with bad karma with the veterinary gods:eek: ) that I would recommend them to anyone!
All the same, I am of the belief that they somehow "know" what we do for them in these critical situations and they are all the more appreciative of our special bond with them... I'm sure Sadie knows how loved she is too! :p
February 3rd, 2004, 08:52 PM
Good idear Lucky R ..... that way he can also get a feel for the breed and the interaction with his Tracker
Here is Rosie's link just incase:
cmt ahhhh you're a thoughtful one you! I'm sure your furballs completely know how spoiled they are :D
February 3rd, 2004, 09:35 PM
How far will Rosie's transfer animals???
February 3rd, 2004, 11:02 PM
I'm not sure, it depends on whether you are approved to adopt first. The first step is to complete an application for adoption form...or send them an email and explain your interest they will get back to you :D
February 4th, 2004, 03:38 AM
So glad Sadie doesn't have parvo....what a scare...!
Similar to cmt's story...When Cooper was about 10 weeks old he came down with giardia (I was being pretty careful with him, but we think maybe he ate bird poop from under the bird feeder when I wasn't watching.) He got very listless, didn't want to eat...diarrhea...classic signs of parvo. I was terrified! I went instantly to my vet and a quick course of flagyl had him feeling better in no time.
Anyhow, Sadie is such a doll - about what does she weigh now?
Deerclan - I've had Rottweilers in my life since 1986. Bless your heart...I think fostering is a fabulous idea. Here's a link to my other internet "home."
This is a wonderful online Rottweiler community; members from all over the world; lots in Canada. Thay have a rescue forum too. ;)
February 4th, 2004, 11:17 AM
Carina she's 11.4 lbs at the vet on Monday :D
Pups can catch just about anything and Lord knows where they all came from especially the rescues.
I like to play chew pee poo sleep eat and run run run!
February 4th, 2004, 03:34 PM
What a very lucky little puppy, but like you say,you don't know what her situation was earlier...hopefully she'll be all well soon.
