Maybe, now that's she's working, it'll slow down. :D heh heh well, lookit that. It's noon and some and I'm on now... Did I mention I hate my job? Ok, well, Boo's body finally noticed he ate a ton of rotted cheese, so I'm home from work today with a bad migraine. ;)

What's worse:
Boo being so sick he exploded all over the house and NEVER woke me up to go out...
OR
I'd rather clean up after the explosion than go to my crap new job?

Prin

Nope, no such luck. Well, maybe- Jemma's ok. I'm starting to wonder if she just took a hit for the team (figuratively of course  ) and didn't actually eat anything... Then again, she never gets sick (just itchy).

Where is this new job? Well, without divulging too many personal details... Are you 18-55, in good health and not taking any drugs? Would you like to be heavily compensated for being a guinea pig? If so, call me! (I don't call you though, you just call me).;) Super crap. I worked in a call center before which was better and paid more and I just find it so discouraging that after 4 years of school, I've actually got a worse job than the one I left to go back to school.

Prin
August 15th, 2006, 11:53 AM
Hey!! 12000!!! :D

Sorry Techno- if it's any help, I had left all the windows open overnight, and it was really windy, so I didn't smell it at all. And he did manage to avoid my new bamboo floor (even if he did get the pine one with the big cracks between the planks  ).

He's ok now, I think. Me being home really calms him down- he was super high anxiety before we got Jemma and I guess she just ain't doin' it for him anymore.

Prin

Hang in there as in quit?

technodoll
August 15th, 2006, 12:18 PM
prin, life is too short no matter how old you are... yes quit, but if you can hold on until you find a new job, you can give them a really big "bird" on your way out to your new gig... you know? nobody needs to get up in the morning feeling dread, spending 8 precious hours of the day doing something you hate and don't believe in... unless you really need the money, spare your soul!

Prin
August 15th, 2006, 01:01 PM
I do need the money, but at the same time, being there during business hours really kills my chances of being here when something better comes along... I don't want to have to call in sick whenever I have an interview or something, nor do I want to miss a call from a better employer... But then staying home isn't great either...

I just really thought that even if I started at the bottom of the ladder, I'd at least get a job that would help me find other jobs afterward, which this one does not.

And reading about Joey's mom's sister and what she said about seizing the day- I'm so not seizing the day. I'm dreading the day. Money or no money, that is not a way to live. I'm happier broke and in debt up to my eyeballs than working in crap for less money than I need to be able to afford to live anyway.

I'm just going back and forth...

The side of me that's more like my dad says, "Quit whining and just tough it out." But honestly, my instinctive side has told me my whole life that it was going to be a short one and living in the moment and to make me and as many other people as I can happy is more important. But then my dad's side kicks in again and says that I'm too idealistic and need to be more realistic. But if this is reality, I'd much, much rather be in 'ideality'.:o

Do you have an answering machine? Then you could check a couple times a day for messages. ;)

If you get an interview, so what if you call in sick, when there's a good possibility that you'd end up with a better job?

The side of me that's more like my dad says, "Quit whining and just tough it out."

Dad's are usually older and wiser. :p

what is your Man's advice? sometimes, it just takes some emotional support to give that extra push to get out of a bad situation... knowing you're not alone can make a world of difference, and you are not alone :dog: It,s the same as getting out of a bad relationship! you can't meet the love of your life if you're dating someone "ho-hum" because it's better than being alone... course the financial issue is tied to a job, but since it's not paying Happy Money and rather just rancid peanuts... i say Go For Your Dream but have a plan first. the best of both worlds... your instincts & your dad's good sense. there will always be work for someone like you prin, just go GET it! you can DO it! :pawprint:

Prin
August 15th, 2006, 02:09 PM
lol Puppyluv- I'm not good with kids either, so that'll be funny.

Rainbow, if they have to leave a message, chances are, they won't and they'll move on the the next CV... They get dozens and dozens for positions like the ones I want, so I have to stand out (i.e. be available). Maybe I'm wrong, but I've missed two calls from potential employers and neither left a message and the number that registered on my phone got me nowhere.

Techno, my man is supportive as hey. This morning when I called him for "permission" (i.e. validation) to stay home with my sick baby, he was very supportive... But I know that being in school for so long and then being unemployed for so long has been a drain on him, and I can't do that to him much longer... I also really, really miss my independence...:o

But it seems as though taking a year off was a bad idea... I think I should have just continued onto my masters, despite the huge student loan debt I already have. There are more jobs open to masters graduates (especially lab jobs or cegep teaching jobs). I'm thinking of applying for January admission... We'll see.
