15 yr old dog-weight loss, dimentia

I have a 15 yr old cocker mix. For the last two months, he has
been wanting out every 1 1/2 to 2 hours all night long. He goes
outside and sometimes just rolls around in the snow. Other
times he legitimately goes to the washroom. He usually sleeps all
day.

Als, he has lost a lot of weight. His eyes are glossing over and
he is hard of hearing.

I'm wondering if dogs can suffer from dimentia or why he
seems to be mixing up day and night.

Also, when given soft food he eats like he's starving. Dry food
is down all the time.

Any help is appreciated because my sleepness nights are killing me.

hi,

15 x 7 = 105.

Your dog is indeed quite old in dog years....and yes unfortunately dogs can and do suffer from dementia.

Just like humans suffering from dementia, a dog suffering from the same ailment will indeed exhibit wierd behaviour.

But you would have to consult with your vet to determine if your dog really IS suffering from dementia.

it could be that he is just undergoing a strange phase...or losing bladder control....

it's really just guesswork until you speak with a vet.

best of luck
